VZW Home Connect device on PPC?

    Check this out:

    http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/s...edPhoneId=5561

Looks like a CDMA box that activates OTA, just like a handset phone. Tempted to connect my BT enabled cordless home system to one.

I don't see why not, and the price without a contract seems to be pretty low, why don't you try it and find out? Will the Verizon store sell it without activating?

I've activated the Bluetooth module in my car with PagePlus. If the Bluetooth isn't connected it will dial out through the module in the trunk. Activated and did OTA activation like any other device!

Other than being able to use home phones through the cellular network, how is this different from just using a cellphone?

I suppose if you wanted to limit your exposure to SAR from a hand held CDMA handset for voice calls, this may be desirable. Also, I was originally planning to use a VZW feature phone and port my home number to it THEN use it BT linked to my new cordless home phone system. This looks like a better, cleaner solution since I don't want an extra handset kicking around that might get misplaced, taken by mistake or forget to recharge the battery.

It's made by Huawei; haven't found the model number yet. I would prefer to find a used one someplace rather than shell out $120 to VZW for a no contract unit.
