LTE in Tampa Bay

ok i got up to 4352mbps down and 1981mbps up around 1pm this afternoon at gunn hwy and anderson near where i live do not assume we in tampa are cap at under 2mbps just some areas are higher than others ill keep checking my speeds around tampa to confirm this but for now thats my highest so far. and about battery life its doing great since being unplugged this morning from 8am its now 6:34 pm battery has gone down only 1/4 i truly think ya need to follow what metros says about conserving battery life it does make a huge difference. Woot!

Its good to see tampa 4G up and running. But bad news for me... My house is next to tower lake in Haines City is like 0.7 miles out of the 4G coverage area. : (

Actually within Florida, Orlando is probably the first thought but Tampa is way up there in the top 3. Most people think Florida they (and this depends on their age) they think Orlando, Miami and Tampa in that order.

I did finally realize that my speed issue and the constant dropping of my 4G is my damn house. So I'll just switch to WiFi while home but aside from that, it's really a let down to see how many spots in this area are not within the 4G zone. I really don't want to do this but unless the 4G coverage gets wider, I may just have to jump ship.

dunno why u wanna switch i mean downloading at over 10 times as much as we used to download why for now would u need anymore speed? what exactly do u need to download on ur phone that needs more speed? im fine for now all i download mainly is ringtones and wall papers off zedge.net they got an app for android and with 4g it takes a split sec to download everything.

You got me wrong bro, I'm good with the speeds even if they don't improve and stay where they are at. When I said "unless the 4G coverage gets wider" I was referring the actual coverage area of 4G getting spread out further within the markets. Because when I look at the map, my area (zip code 34653) is covered but once you start traveling north or east by as close as 2 miles that 4G coverage is gone.

See I used to work away from home 45 weeks a year on the average and every client I had usually had their corporate office within a major city where Metro has 4G coverage currently and between September 2009 and September 2010 all of my weekly travel was to the greater San Francisco area so 4G coverage was all good. However now I've been hired full time by my last client and the deal was that I work 1 week in the office and 3 weeks from home. So I'm within my home area every day for 3 weeks straight and I get out of the house several times a day just to change the scenery and quite often I go to areas where I see 4G is not available even though it's only a matter of 1 or 2 miles from my house. Well that sucks.

So like I said, unless the start widening the coverage areas where 4G is available, I see my 4G connection as pointless. I need 4G outside of my house, at home I'm covered by WiFi. Of course I'll give it some time as I don't expect them to do this overnight, but I'm setting a deadline for say...September. If I see no improvement by then I'll sadly have to leave.

Wagonis I agree with you I am lucky here in Brandon I am under the 4g all the time I will have to go about 10 miles for me to lose it and then the rest of Tampa is fine I think that by September it will be better.

You're lucky to be in an area that's covered so widely, but like I said I'll give it some time and maybe it will improve on coverage.

Ok check this out wagonis my boy that is on sprint htc evo installed the speedtest.net app after I asked him how fast was he going so he installs it and checks it lmao sprint is same speed here in tampa that metro is actually to be honest my upload speed was faster and his down was at 1325mbps so my conclusion is its not our carrier's fault I believe here atleast in the bay area the lte structure for all carriers isnt that fully developed. the location was near busch gardens on busch and yukon for all of ya tampa bayerz in here!

Yeah I've heard some others tell me about their speeds with Wimax and as soon as I leave the house and get off WiFi my speeds are awesome, so I got zero complaints there. It just bugs me that when I go to places like my daughters house which is only 5 minutes away from mine, I lose my 4G because her area is no covered by 4G. I know this is temporary, matter of fact I there's another thread where is says they are spreading the 4G coverage so they can start the process of eliminating CDMA.

So...time will tell.
