    Run your own Danger Server?

With the pending shutdown of sidekick service, i have to ask, is there a way to run your own danger server? I have every sidekick from the original to the lx 2009, and I hate to see all that money and phones be wasted. I would think that akin to the converter boxes they gave out to let you run your analog TV, there would be some way to keep these devices alive, especially for nostaliga

Unless someone here is aware of options I don't know exist, I'd say there's zero chance of running your own Sidekick server. The Sidekicks were never like the BlackBerries. RIM has always provided the option of running your own Enterprise Server. It's simply a question of COST. But Danger never offered that option that I'm aware of. The Sidekicks are totally dependent on the cloud-based Danger server(s) which will be shut off very soon.

There's no putting it off, it's time to pick your next phone. The Sidekick 4G comes out April 20th, I believe. You should take a look at it in a T-Mobile store once it launches and see what you think.

Yeah, it sucks to have "useless" equipment, but that happens sometimes. Just ask anyone that used to use a TDMA cell phone.

There is a Canadian provider that just offered the sidekick 3 so i dont think the cloud servers will be shut down entirely; maybe for T-mobile USA though.
