    Rogers Alternative in Hespeler, Ontario?

OK, so I've had a work provided cell phone for a while that has been with Rogers.

I have been trying to find an alternative but don't think I really have one.

Looking at the cell phone tower site here:
    http://www.ertyu.org/steven_nikkel/cancellsites.html

And in the search box I put "melran drive, cambridge, on" and that shows me the towers close to me.

A couple years back I had a Bell phone and could not get service at my house. I now have a virgin samsung galaxy s that I just signed up with today and have no signal sitting in my living room at all.

Looking at the cell phone towers it looks like I might be able to go with Telus as they have towers at the same location as Rogers?

My understanding was that Virgin mobile will use the bell network which I thought also meant would also use the telus towers. Is this not the case? If I can't get a signal with my samsung galaxy on Virgin will I get a signal if I switch to Telus? I am just on a month to month contract so have no issues cancelling Virgin and going to Telus if it will get me a signal.

And just to be clear. I do not have any major issues with Rogers. Now that I have the cell phone on my own dime though I just cannot find a rogers plan that is comparable to the ones offered by Virgin/Telus at a good price point.

    Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8G4 Safari/6533.18.5)

Bell and TELUS hspa are the same network
Therefore your bell galaxy = a TELUS desire HD.

Bell CDMA cannot connect to Telus CDMA in Hespeler.
Telus CDMA can use Bell CDMA towers in Hespeler.

just thought that I would add that in case your Bell experiences were based on that

Just so I'm 100% clear on what you mean......

I can see that there are two towers that say they are "Telus" on the canadian cell phone tower map in Hespeler.

If I have a Bell SIM in my phone it will NOT connect to those towers but if I have a Telus SIM in my phone it will connect to those towers?

That would seem to indicate that I might have a good shot at getting a signal with Telus since those towers are located where the Rogers tower is (and I am able to get a rogers signal).

Telus towers are BELL towers in the East for HSPA
the towers your looking at are either TELUS CDMA, or just not labelled properly

again, if your Bell HSPA phone doen't work, the Telus HSPA phone wont work either.

    Thanks for the info.

Just got off the phone with Fido and think I'm going to give them a shot.

Looks like I'm limited to either them or Rogers and Fido seems to have a plan that will better suit my needs (as well as per second billing).

I'm a little confused as to why you would try Fido when you are already a Rogers customer. Fido is going to have the same signal as Rogers. Generally, plans that Rogers will be will to offer you to remain a customer are going to be better than anything Fido allow new customers to sign up to. Usually telling Rogers something similar to your last sentece in your first post about not having major issues but not being happy about the prices of the plans will get you transfered to customer relations. If you can get that person to understand where you are coming from and there was any risk that you might leave (which there was because you actually did), they will almost always offer you something cheaper, sometimes in the range of 40 to 50% less for a plan similar to what you already had.

Depends if it was under his name. But yeah, if it is under his name, Rogers retentions is the way to go.
