Just like to say, this is the first "smart" phone I've ever owned (Huawei Ascend), and it's been pretty handy. But there are some weird things going on that honestly scare me. I'm only posting this because I could not find other forum posts about it - and because the guy at the store was certain that it was a software problem, and kept pushing that it wouldn't do anything to replace the phone. He also said he couldn't help me with that, so he just factory reset it. I tried calling up support and I couldn't find my issues in their automated service. Yet, when I try to contact an operator, I get this really stingy message about how the automated service is there to "help me" and that i should just "use that". How incredibly frustrating.

First, sometimes, the phone will have issues with the date and the time. My alarm didn't go off one day, and it was because the phone had somehow went from march 26th to may 3rd, and the time was 9 hours behind. it's done this more than once, and when it does, it'll keep moving the date and time forward for about 2 or 3 days. Then it magically auto-corrects.

The other issue is that the data connectivity has done some really strange things, and while it works one day in the same place perfectly, other days it won't connect anywhere at all, and I won't be able to use my google navigation (I deliver stuff to people).

I had synced my gmail account to the phone, and told it only to do contacts which ended up causing it to sync every email address I've ever sent a message to. My friend said that was normal, so I just lived with it. But then, one day it just completely wiped all my contacts during one of those connectivity failure runs, and I couldn't sync it back up. I was eventually able to sync again, but none of the previous contacts i had entered into the phone reappeared except at one point later on that month where I entered into my contacts list -> edit window and I saw all my old contacts there, but it soon disappeared again too. The thing also occasionally beeps at me with a notification, but shows no notification, or shows me a notification for lost data connectivity that when I click it read the full message, just disappears.

I'm kind of freaked out right now, since I also got hit with bank card fraud (charges to my bank card in atlanta and vancouver on the same day), and this is something that has never happened before either. I might be paranoid, but how safe is information with this phones network? I don't have wifi on at all ever, but I do have data connectivity on automatically (no roaming). I should have save my contacts to SD card, but too late now.

Does anyone know what's going on with this thing?

edit: forgot to mention, I also got the android backup/security app to deal with malware, but it's never reported that I had any.
