3g Speed Test Results For Non-Straight Talk Phones
Can we get some 3g speed test results for phones like iPhones, Blackberries, Android phones posted up please? I'm looking forward to switching from my Samsung Epic 4g on Boost, to an iPhone 4 or some sort of Android phone from AT&T
I'll have to get back to this one. However, be aware that the Motorola Atrix and the HTC Inspire 4G had their download speed limited by AT&T using the software on the phone. Out of the box the Iphone will be faster. I rooted my HTC Inspire and put a custom ROM on it and my speeds tripled.
i just got 1.29 down on my 3gs, ive tried it in a iphone 4 and gotten 3.5 down. so the speed is native att 3g speeds, and like the above poster mentioned you can get hspa+ or "4G" speeds with a iphone 4, htc inspire, or a atrix.
Yeah...apparently AT&T doesn't limit the speed for the Straight Talk users on their network. The ST phones themselves are just slow. If you get in the right area with a Nokia E71 it will actually say 3.5G. The speeds are great if you tweek the phone right. In my case the highest I've gotten was about 4 up with full signal on my Inspire. 1.3 down seems to stay steady no matter what adjustments I make. Once again, keep in mind I'm rooted with a custom ROM. Download speed are nowhere near that on a stock Inspire....not yet anyway.
It gets better with newer phones with HSDPA or "4G"(not to be confused with 4G LTE) My Samsung Infuse 4G has hit 7.5mbps down. Also the phone's capability to process information can affect speed tests. My phone is faster than the Cappy or the Inspire in many regards(I have had both). Processor, RAM, and radio will affect speeds also.
