    Hey guys question...

A friend of mine from the States gave me A nokia 8290 to use.

The phone is branded voicestream and his phone number is an old Omnipoint phone number from Connecticut.

What MCCMNC should I be using for the phone to be unlocked?

    Thanks

Having a blast with my new iPhone!

This is a dct3 phone and cannot be calculated that way. You can order codes from some places on the net or HAVE A PRO DO IT WITH CABLES.

    I know the Nokia 8290 is a DCT3 phone...

If you search the internet enough you'll find places giving the code out that is calculated by IMEI and MCCMNC

...Again if anyone knows the MCCMNC for Voicestream in Connecticut that would be great.

    Thanks

I don't know if this makes any difference on DCT3 phones, but on DCT4 phones the MCC/MNC to use is 310-20 even though sections of the US have had several different MNCs. CT's MNC before it was changed to the universal T-Mobile MNC of 310-26 was the Omnipoint MNC of 310-16. Take that for whatever it's worth. 310-20 is the code used for DCT4 so that may be the case for DCT3 also though I'm not sure. Never had a remote unlock done on a DCT3 phone.

    Cool thanks man.

I tried the remote unlock with the 310-16 code and it didn't work.

I'll try the 310-20 MCCMNC and see if that works...I'll post up my results.

    Hooray!!!

Hooray!!!!! I got the phone unlocked and am using it with FIDO! up here in Canada.

I used the 310-20 MCCMNC and the unlock worked perfectly.

The 310-20 MCCMNC code seems to be the universal code for T-Mobile and all its divisions when it comes to what network their phones are locked to.

    Thanks for everyones help.

would my servicde provider give me this code? I have an unlocked ROKR E1 and it says emergency only. I have cingular service and before my phone started saying emergency only, I got T-Mobile service and I had cingular plan. Is there a web site that tells me the code? i live in tx.

This thread is about the network code used for unlocking. The correct network code to use is 310-20 and it does not matter which area you live in and what your MCC/MNC is. As far as the unlock code for your particular phone you'll have to get that from your carrier.
