unlocked phone like 840P and au kddi sh004

I found a seller selling sh004, sony cybershot, 840p. according what he said these phones are manually unlocked and they can be used with other simcards in japan. But 1 thing I'm not sure if those phone are really unlocked in japan, am i able to use them outside japan like normal phone?

The SH004 is a Sharp by AU KDDI, meaning it CANNOT be used on other carriers as it uses a different frequency, and has no USIM card.

The 840P is a SoftBank phone by Panasonic. It could/should be unlockable. Do some research.

I'm sure au uses SIM cards for their CDMA network.

    I stand corrected then

Anyway, as far as I know, KDDI phones are not usable outside of Japan.

    Good luck surviving without SMS

I know I can't, the hours I spent on SMS beats the time I spent on calls.

    Their phones are nice though..

why just don't look around the forums? anything that softbank use is hypersim and software unlockable, not all models can be software unlocked to begin with and if you can't then use the standard hypersim to use it meaning you can use it outside Japan. problem solved.
