Any phone that wasn't originally sold by Public Mobile will not work. There are no excpetions.
Not true, if you find another CDMA phone with PCS G-Block support then I suppose you could. But whether they let you run the phone on their network is another question.. they have to be willing to add your phone to their DB of allowed phones. This is an issue with all 'CDMA' (2G) based networks as the account subscribed via the phone and not with a SIM card (as in GSM)
Yes, it is true. Even you could find phone a phone that was compatible with the network (which I highly doubt that you will), Public Mobile is not going to allow the ESN number to be added to the system. The end result being that if the phone isn't from Public Mobile, it's not going to work/not going to be allowed on a Public Mobile customer's account. Like I said, there are no exceptions to this.

Public uses G-Block, a segment of the spectrum that is UNLIKE any other mobile carrier in North America except Sprint. Their phones have to be custom manufactured, hence the small selection. The blackberry would NOT work.
will a blackbery curve 8520 work with public mobile?
Let's simplify things a little.
If Public Mobile didn't sell the phone, it's not going to work/they aren't going to allow it on the network. Once again, there are no exceptions.
Insert any model phone into the question about whether it will work and the answer is "no" in every case unless it is a Public Mobile phone.
Keep it simple for you. You can't use any phone that they don't sell. THE END.

I think this thread has run its course.
OP, the answer has been made very clear to you. If it ain't a Public Mobile phone, you won't get it working.
Moving on now...
