    1. Get an h2o SIM and $10 in minutes.
    2. Put it in my existing unlocked AT&T cheap clamshell phone.
    3. Link this phone to my Google Voice number.
    4. Add $10 every 90 days, costing me around $3.40/mo to keep the phone alive.

Will this work? Where would be the best place to get a SIM card and $10 refill? The h2owireless website or some third party?

I'm very keen on a cheap-to-keep-alive AT&T network phone, since if I'm on the road and out of Sprint coverage, my calls and texts will still get through. Also, if I'm out camping or something and don't want my Android with me, I can bring my cheap-o phone that I'm not that concerned with breaking or losing.

    Thanks.

I just bought some for me and my kids at $1.99 each with free shipping from yippz.com (they're $9.99 from H2O directly and they're an authorized dealer.

They also carry Red Pocket SIM cards for $1.99 too (they're $19.99 from Red Pocket directly).

Also, a great article about H2O and Red Pocket here: yippz.com/blog/the-next-step-cell-phone-plans-as-low-as-8-33-a-month

Amazing information and a great way to stick with AT&T coverage for pennies and no contracts.

A few months ago H2O cut the expiration on their pay as you go PINs from 90 days to 30 days so the minimum to keep a phone alive is now $10 every 30 days. Airvoice still has a $10 every 90 day option

Just to confirm, the 10.0 plan currently has 30 days of expiration but also has roll over as long as you recharge before the expiration date. You can purchase your SIM at BestBuy, and Big Lots for 9.99 or, on ebay and amazon for various prices. Just be careful the SIM you are purchasing from ebay or amazon is not pre-activated prior to your knowledge. We have had this experience with customers and once the SIM is activated with a certain market there is no way for ur to remove it from that market. I hope this informtion helped, please feel free to contact us if further assistance is needed at h2owirelessnow.com

    Angry Poor customer support

I signed up for H2owireless $50 plan bc they include $10 worth of international calls. For the first month, 80% of my outbound international calls failed to one way audio (called party can't hear). I tried reporting the issue by chat, email and phone (their chat is very unresponsive and they don't answer email). When I spoke with their CSR I was supposedly transferred to a tech who said right away that problems with international calls is normal. I explained about the 80% call failure rate and she said she'd check my number and then replied that everything is fine with my account. I pursued this further and she finally made test calls and said she would open a ticket to report the issue.

Do not sign up for autorenewal unless you are completely satisfied with their service!!!

I had a similar problem with international calls. I had gotten h20 service for my son and then when the expiration for $10 card changed from 90 days to 30 days I was going to use up my existing balance to call family in Europe.
But my sister couldn't hear me and she said it was beeping on the line so it didn't work out the way I hoped.

H20 CS is the PITS. So is Red Pocket. Jolt has 24 hour mediocre CS. For people who need help a little more then usual, I'd go with Air Voice everytime. The only H20 Plans I recommend are $25 (no hidden caps, no "unlimited" and $100 one year (don't have to deal with their terrible CS for 365 days. ) Other then that, I don't see much point in using them...

I bought my H2O SIM card from Amazon. It only cost me 52 cents.
Unfortunately, I can't post a link to it directly, but I found it with an easy search of the site.

Actually, a Red Pocket SIM was even cheaper at 11 cents.

They are both shipping right now. I am currently trying Straight Talk this month. I'll give each a try for a month to see how their service is.
Callingmart has their usual 5% off coupon code active right now.

Is this true? Can you activate for example the $40 plan using a new AT&T sim card? Are these pre-paid or regular post-paid sims, assuming there is a difference. The pre-paid sims are easier to get and inexpensive. Do you guys know if international direct-dialing is supported with AT&T sim cards for use on H2O? Thanks

I have activated minute plan with non-3G *CINGULAR* SIM (Alpha tag reads: Cingular) and then I replaced it with *CINGULAR* 3G SIM to use data.

Just this week I activated $60 plan with AT&T SIM and then cut it to put in iPhone. Worked perfect.

Do the activation through the phone automated system. It doesn't ask for IMEI and it is instant. On the website 1) you must create account 2) You must provide an IMEI 3) It is not instant, can take up to 24 hours.
