T-Mo Struggling to Add Data Plan to My Account

Good God, I hope someone can help me diagnose and resolve this issue:

T-Mo can't seem to get a data plan added to my account, which is a bit of a bother as I have a G2x (ordered online on launch day) and would love to partake in the HSDPA+ goodness. As well as use the search function on Google maps. At this point, I'd take UMTS access just to not have to be tied to a WiFi AP.

I'm on the FlexPay $60 unlimited talk/text plan, though I signed up for the $80 unlimited talk/text/web plan when I ordered the phone.

The subsequent two weeks have been a comedy of errors:

    • Can't OTA
    • Call to activate with CSR, but account is in "reserved" status
    • Missing payment research
    • Problems porting number over
    • Account suspended for non-payment
    • Trouble ticket to research inability to add data plan to account
    • Second trouble ticket for same reason (not sure what happened to the first)

Has anyone else had a similar problem or have any suggestions on resolution?

I was at a retail store working with an RSR for the second trouble ticket and was really hopeful that I would get a different response. However, I was just told to wait another 72 hours for the issue to be fixed (with a passing "guarantee" that that would fix the problem). Should I be asking for ticket numbers or trying to research what happened with the original ticket?

I'll confess, I went back to T-Mo because of the customer service (was a T-Mo sub three years ago), but now, it seems like they've given up on it. There's nothing more irritating than being transferred back to an offshore customer service group that seems to be reading from a script and refusing to do anything more than ask me to wait three more days.

Posting a follow up to close the thread, should anyone pull this up in a search.

Turns out that a temporary account that T-Mo had provided to me while my number was being ported over (ostensibly as a customer service) hosed the provisioning of the feature after my number did port over.

As a consequence, the review of the first ticket submitted did not turn up any issues and was chalked up to user error on the CSR's part. The second trouble ticket was closed without resolution, so I'm not sure what happened there. A third ticket finally resolved the issue, but only after I called Tech Support and walked them through what happened during the initial activation of the device.

A suggestion to any others dealing with provisioning issues like this is to ask for "Technical Support" when calling 611, versus rate plan, services or billing. The IVR prompts seem indicate that this is primarily about phone problems rather than service, but the people manning the desks are helpful with any issue (and even added the services without handing me off to another CSR when the issue was resolved).

Boo to T-Mo for such poor call flow quality and failure to communicate. Hurrah to Tech Support for getting it done.
