What is the delay on the phone about? I would switch today if they would go head and release it!

According to this memo that's going around Best Buy, you're not actually supposed to listen to anything we're saying here. Because what do we know? We're just a blog. (Or maybe they're referring to that other blog.) But the fact remains that the HTC EVO 3D -- that's the newfangled 3D-capable phone that we saw at CTIA -- is available for preorder at Best Buy Mobile.
Here's the deal: You've gotta ask for it. Best Buy isn't actively promoting the presale, and there's a good chance that there's a secret handshake involved. (We tried this one.) But otherwise, it should be standard Best Buy preorder procedure: You fork over a little cash in exchange for a gift card and the promise of a phone once it's released. You can then apply the gift card toward the total cost. As for when it's coming? Still no word, other than this summer.
We've put word into our official Best Buy contacts for some official confirmation (you know, not from a blog), but we've also walked into a store and confirmed this for ourselves. So if you wanna preorder an HTC EVO 3D, go for it.
What is the delay on the phone about? I would switch today if they would go head and release it!

HTC Evo 3D, View 4G available for pre-order at Sprint
Sprint customers holding out for the HTC Evo 3D can now inch slightly closer to that glasses-free display -- without dropping by RadioShack. The carrier has confirmed that you can reserve the WiMAX handset by visiting a Sprint-owned retail store and plunking down $50 for a gift card. There's still no word on when you'll be able to get the device in-hand (and the 3D's exclusive carrier is mum on pricing), but, if you don't mind reserving a phone without any hint as to how much you'll eventually need to pay, then Sprint seems happy enough to swap your Grant for a spot on the list. It's also taking names for the Evo View 4G tablet and, like the 3D, that $50 deposit can be used to take a bite out of a 2D handset. You know, in case you decide that a third dimension is too hot to handle.

Not being snarky, but what is the appeal of a 3D cellphone? It seems no less gimmicky that LG's DS-lookalike. (Honestly can't remember its name)
Why do peole that don't have Sprint, post in Sprint forums hmmmmmie Troll Alert
If the economy is so bad way are you wasting $200-$2,000 with Verizon or ATT... shame shame
You're thinking of the Kyocera Echo, not LG.
The appeal of the 3D is (ignoring the numerous other features and only addressing the 3D aspect):
You can take 3D pictures and videos. And when you take those 3D pictures and videos, you can view, preview, edit, etc, on the phone.
So if you already have a 3D tv, you're set. If you don't have one, at least when you inevitably get one someday, you can feel comfortable knowing that your videos you take on your next vacation will look even better on your new tv than they look on your current tv.
Think of it like HD. When HD first came out, you may not have had an HD tv. But if your phone recorded HD videos back then, you would be reaping the rewards of that feature today.

That still doesn't address the question: why would you want 3D on a phone? It works on the big screen or a giant $3k TV because you can immerse oneself into the experience. How is a 4 inch screen going to be anything but a gimmick like a dual-screen phone?
HTC HD7 now available for preorder (at a discount)
