I don't have the LG800G, but that's basically what I did on my LG500G (slightly different location and access methods).
So, when you accessed the file on the phone, and installed it, what happened?

Does this look like what you did (and I tried but failed with)? http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...ni-with-LG800g
I'll be activating a gift LG800G within a few days and will try it again.
Happy Holidays!

On a LG 800G, doing the following:
Games & Apps -> Options -> File info -> Opera Mini -> Scroll down to Signature
shows "This application is signed by VeriSign Class 3 ........". This is on my LG800G where I downloaded/installed OperaMini 6.5 using the phone's native browser.
If I do the same on an untrusted application, I see "This application is untrusted".
What Signature text do you see on your LG500G for Opera Mini which you installed via your PC? Signed or Untrusted?
Thanks!
Cheers!
OK, just verified it. Downloaded Opera Mini 6.5 using a spoofed UAstring.
After installing, file info says it's signed.
Took some extra work this time. Looks like Opera changed the site. I had trouble getting the JAR to go with the signed JAD. I pulled the URL out of the JAD.
Just tried this now on a recently activited LG 800G:
Downloaded signed JAD and JAR to PC. JAR was downloaded using URL out of JAD - as you did.
Copied to both files to phone via USB.
From phone:
Clicked on JAD
Phone downloaded signed JAR, then ended with Authentication Failed message
Checked Games & Apps folder and found no OperaMini
Clicked on JAR and it installed app
Games & Apps -> File Info for Opera Mini -> Signature: "This application is untrusted"
So, basically I confirmed again that I cannot install Opera Mini 6.5 as a Signed application via PC->USB->Phone.
Now here's a really slick way that installs it as a Signed / Trusted Application:
1. Copy/Pastt/Text the URL to the phone using your e-mail client or type the URL into the native browser:
http://m.opera.com/mini.jad?act=dl&t...l®ion=en-us
The text only costs 0.3 units on the LG800G.
2. Open the text, click on the URL, the select Connect.
3. The native will open an empty page, but will download and install the app signed and trusted application.
I guess the LG500G and LG800G must be working differently somehow.
So, this is the URL I used for the JAD for Oper Mini 6.5.
http://m.opera.com/mini.jad?act=dl&t...rnd=2521363510
Then, view that file with wordpad and you'll find the URL that the JAD says to get the JAR from.
MIDlet-Jar-URL: http://m.opera.com/dl/qPXXomdhcI4*GS...uZw==/mini.jar
Put that URL (use the one in the JAD you get) in a browser to get the JAR.
Copy both to the phone (USB, Bluetooth, Card Reader)
Open/launch the JAD.
Once it installs and runs, it connects to the web for the license agreement and the welcome screen.
I did the above 45 minutes ago and it worked on my LG500G
Post #112 is exactly my experience with the LG800G. The LG500G is apparently a different animal.
The LG800G got a firmware update. Maybe something changed.
ST Dog,
One difference I see - your JAD is for Verisign, mine is All Certificates (both Verisign and Thawte).
Since it's so easy to install via text, I'm not really wanting to mess up my current install and spend more airtime fixing it. If you're up for it, you can experiment with downloading the dual-signed JAD I specified in my URL since you can recover for free. The JARs we both downloaded are the same, but I click on a JAD, I think the phone downloads a fresh JAR and ignores the one copied from the PC.
I used the jad for all certificates. It didn't work, as described earlier.
Perhaps try the Verisign only certificate then.
I compared the JAD files, and the only differences I see are :
The all cert. version has 2 certificates instead of 1. (3 pieces for each cert). Cert 2 is the same as the Verisign cert (not an precise compare, but I eyeballed it and it looked the same).
The OM-UA: line is different.
I clicked on the all-certs JAD and no warning about an untrusted app. Instead I get a notice about the publisher that signed it.
I do know that my phone did not download a separate JAR, it just used the one I copied.
No airtime deducted until I start the app after the install (to agree to the license).
I see that it used the Thawte Code Signing CA when I used the all-cert JAD.
I was thinking and since I used Bluetooth to copy the file, they were copied to the phone memory, not the card.
So, I moved both to the card (external memory). Then I get an error message about the JAR not being found.
so, I moved the JAR back to the phone. Same error.
Put both back on the phone and it installs.
That's not the first time I've had trouble installing from the card (external memory).
Worth a try on the LG800G?
Rename the version you have installed (Opera6.5) and try with the 4.x version.
Change tag=mini5 -> tag=mini4 in the URL for the JAD.
I have both 4.4 and 6.5 installed right now.
Trying to find out how to send multiple pics with the LG800G. I have been sending one at a time which is time consuming. Any help would be appreciated.
