    Samsung Galaxy Barcode Scanner

I cannot seem to get the barcode to scan in the camera, but QR codes are working without any challenges.

    Anyone else having this issue?

Not working for me either. Someone suggested that it's the quality of the camera not being able to pick up the barcode. I can get QR with no problems also.

I thought the prevails camera didn't have a focus. That could be the reason.

The Prevail doesn't seem to support Google Goggles. or vice versa. I can't find it in the market and it won't download to my phone from the web link.

I found the APK for google goggles and installed it. It takes the picture and tries to analyze it, but I don't get any results. It doesn't seem to be the clarity of the photos. I tried took clear pics of Mona Lisa, The Lourve, and the Bass Pro Shop. Each time it eventually just says !Connection Problem - Try Again or Cancel. ugh.

it sounds like when it tries to send the photo information to google it also sends the phone info and that gets rejected. I tested it out with my metro lg optimus and it worked well. I wonder why the prevail would not?

Samsung Galaxy Prevail Barcode Scanner that ACTUALLY WORKS!

Okay gang, here it is: pic2shop

I downloaded the most common bar code scanners available and they did not work with my Samsung Prevail by Boost Mobile. It turns out the Prevail WAS listed as having auto-focus on other sites, though I have yet to check my users manual.

I did some searching and found pic2shop which is an application that works EVEN IF YOU DON'T HAVE AUTO-FOCUS.

So far, it has worked good on scanning my daughter's new Mongoose Bike UPC, a library book UPC AND- a box of Frosted Mini Wheats. The only thing it didn't scan so far is my TomTom UPC and a UPC for a package of bed sheets.

Remember, if it's not available online or the product doesn't have an online code OR if the product is sold exclusively for one store- it may not scan. This is also true for anything that's highly glossed or NOT black and white UPC's (which is common for repriced clearance merchandise at some retailers.

Hope this helps- it saved me a huge headache of returning and replacing this phone.

So all the other apps need autofocus? To me it seems very strange that the prevail is so limited, no autofocus, only 2mp camera, the arm6 cpu, and low amount of ram and internal storage as well as such limited app support, yet it has a few higher features, such as wireless n and whatever else it has.
