try looking at the LG C105 for the manual, seems to be the parent phone
manual for the 501c? I believe it was on pbush's weblog.
TL;DR the manual, but here are some quick notes that I learned about my LG500G after spending an hour or so with it:
THE ALARM SUCKS
- The alarm feature on it sucks compared to my T301G, it's not as customizable.
- I haven't found a way to separately control the alarm's volume apart from everything else.
You can set a .gif animated file as a backgroundI've always wanted the matrix style wallpaper for my cellphone many years ago back in middle school, now I can finally have one.
Web browser sucks, costs a fortune for me. The upside to this is the browser button isn't as easy to accidentally press unlike in my T301G, since the button on the LG500G is concaved and is hard to push accidentally.
Backlit qwerty keyboard![]()
YOU CANNOT ASSIGN WHAT THE MENU BUTTONS DOES
Top row has noticeable keyboard flex.
While playing, you can select Options, and then Minimize. This will take you back to the main menu, while the music continues playing. You can either select something else, or lock the screen from here.
Note that my biggest complaint about this phone is the Browser button on the home screen. Being the same button as back makes it way to easy to accidentally press. The window to hit the cancel button is too short. It's technically possible to hit, as I tried, but I never react fast enough when I do it accidentally. And even then, because the cancel button is the same as the browser button, I've even managed to cancel, but then immediately hit the browser button again (an odd number of presses puts you right back in the browser). I've already done this a half dozen times in the week I've had this phone. So far, the best way I've managed is to always use the PWR/END key when I want to get back to the main menu, rather than trying to Back my way into it.
Yeah, this is frustrating. I use the Toolbar option for "Display Items" under Menu->Settings->Display->Screen Theme. This at least gives you 5 customizable items to choose from by pressing the up arrow. Of the five, I set one to be the "Go to" tool. That gives you another 10 things to pick for short cuts. (Also, while in the "Go to" tool, you can select an item by pressing a number.)
cancelled the message.
Has anyone been able to transfer files to the 500G using the USB port? According to the ST 500G tutorial at http://tracfone.deviceanywhere.com/s...=en_US&search= you can do it but it wouldn't surprise me if Tracfone has disabled that feature on the 500G for Trafcone users. I don't want to go out and buy a USB-to mini-USB cable and then find that I can't use it.
I got my 500G at Radio Shack three days ago and for the most part I am very pleased with this phone. It's not perfect but it's way better than my 420G and the W376G that I had before that. Texting with it is a breeze compared to those phones. I wasn't surprised that it had a 1.3 megapixel still camera but I was surprised that it could record video. So far I have not been able to find the voice recorder. Has anyone uncovered that? Right now something strange seems to be going on when I do text. If I type a single character or a group of letters/numbers, there is always a simicolon at the end. That wasn't the case when I first got the phone a few days ago. Does anyone know how I get get rid of the semicolon?
Hey, I didn't realize this was a feature. I just tried it and managed to mount the microSD card on my laptop (a MacBook Pro). When you plug in the cable, the phone asks "Connect to Mass Storage?". If you say "yes" and wait a few seconds, the SD card mounts like a flash drive (a slow one).
Make sure that you get a cable that has the pins for data transfer and isn't one just for charging.
