Found this forum while searching for help with my new phone. Thanks to previous posters -- lots of useful tips. Also found a pretty thorough list of tutorials on this particular phone on the Tracfone site. It's a shame that they don't include all that info in the package with the phone, or at least mention the URL so it can be more easily found. If you Google "LG 500G Tutorials" you should be able to find it. Since I'm new here, the site won't let me post the link directly. I may be back with questions after I try to use some of the functions that my old Tracfone didn't have.
The link has been given many times before, but since you mentioned it:

Thanks so much for this forum. I've scanned over most of the 199 messages here - lots of helpful info.
I downloaded opera-mini-4.4.29476-advanced-en-us.jar to my computer, then sent it over to my phone via bluetooth and installed it. It's lovely! Except... whatever I type in the browser URL address window comes out differently than what I type (completely different characters). So I tried doing the same thing with opera-mini-7.0.30567-advanced-en-us.jar and - same problem, what I type comes out differently in the browser address window.
As I always assume these things are somehow my fault - what am I doing wrong?
Really odd. I don't remember any sort of issue, though it was over a year ago when I tried Opera mini on my LG500G (no longer an active phone)
My LG500Gs are no longer active so I can't test.
Can you give an example. What you try to enter and what you get instead.
I like the LG500G, but need to replace it because I ruined the screen (glue - long story).
Is there a way to transfer my contacts without manually entering each of my 235 names into the new phone? When I connect my data cable from the old phone to my PC, my music, pictures and ringtones show up, but no contacts.
I don't have an LG500G, but if it's like an LG800G
1. Try exporting/saving your contact list. The you should be able to see/copy file via USB.
2. Bluetooth the contacts over ..... maybe slow
3. I bought a SIM card reader and have used that in the past to move/modify contact list.
Cheers!
tfusr,
Most of the contacts are not stored on the SIM though.
Bluetooth isn't too bad, and better than multiple passes with the SIM.
What tfusr19 said. Then,
