Wind VS Mobi cellphones and prices...

So I was 'bored' and decided to do a comparison on phones / tablets / data sticks for both companies. ( I had to add in tablets to make it 'fair' for Mobi!) and I have to say it's sad to see the results...

Wind has more phones in the 'critical' 0-100, and 101-200 range, and more phones overall. C'mon Mobi, you prices may rock, but your selection SUCKS worse then a toothless h... um, well you know what!!!

I dunno... Mobilicity's lineup has depth if not breadth. The Spice is a killer phone for the price, and before the Nexus S Wind's Android flagship was the X720.

Mobi definitely needs a something like the Pocket Hotspot, though. Still another month or so before I get the unlock code for mine!

Mobilicity has refreshed the line up a couple times which is why Mobi's list seems short.

Don't forget Mobi used to the Huawei U7519 and HTC maple as well as well as Wind's cheaper line-up is filled with Huawei phones which Mobi I'm pretty sure said they will not offer anymore.

I think the quality of phones is higher for Mobilicity. Almost all of them are respectable. WIND has a lot of really junky phones.

First of all, Huawei and Alcatel phones aren't even PHONES. They are literally bricks. But Wind used a smart move with the Nokias scattered all around for everyone

Its true Wind has a bigger selection, but wind also has a couple Huawei's (which dont have the best reputation). Wind or Mobi not having a vast selection doesnt really bother me, cause I rather just buy a lightly used phone from t-mobile and save a few bucks, rather then pay full price from mobi or get tied down to a faux-contract (windtab) with wind. but thats just me
I cracked & signed up with Telus. I couldnt resist the Free Phone, $300 airtime credit, and EPP ($20+tax : 350mins, unlimited early evngs /wknds, cd, vm, unlimited NA txts, NO SAFS or 911) With the $300 credit its like having a free year of phone service.

In a way it is true...the $200-$400 zone is kind of empty and that's where I want to buy a phone.Throw in that I would prefer an Android over anything else that doesn't give me much of a choice and it looks like Mobi really has to fill in the gaps.Plus maybe different phones than Wind and not crap like the MobiFlip.

Still,a lot of people buy Mobi phones to use on Wind and most of our units are not too shabby...so getting more in the mid range also would make things better.

I got 'told off' by Dave about the phone list! *LOL* He says Mobi smokes Wind, (and he's right) because Mobi has refreshed 2.5 times now, and Wind still has original phones. *LOL*

I am Sorry Dave, you are better then Wind!!

A mid-range android would definitely be appreciated. Motorola Defy comes to mind. With its specs and tough durable build quality, it would surely have lots of takers. T-Mo sells it for $380, so thats a reasonable price point.

Are you serious? You must be kidding. You're the first person who's ever said that.
Are you aware that the only reason WIND has a "greater selection" is because 1) they still have the same old crappy handsets since they started (Mobilicity sold out of all their original ones) and 2) they have a ton of crappy huawei and alcatel garbage.
If you judge "selection" by "crap" then I guess you're right! WIND has a greater selection....of crap

i dont know if the LG Optimus T would classify as low range or mid range, but I picked it up off ebay in like new condition for $110, and I gotta say its pretty spiffy and runs smooth out of the box, while when I had the Motorola Spice it lagged like no tomorrow, even after rooting it and deleting all the junk.

I think the Optimus T would make a nice android addition to MOBI, not to mention it comes with FROYO and a GINGERBREAD update is apparently in the cards, while the MOTO Spice will not see anything past ECLAIR

Allan, you neglected to include the BB Playbook in WIND's list.

Also for the record, the old U7519, HTC Maple, E181 data stick and Nokia 5230 have all been discontinued for awhile now. If you look hard enough you might find a few still for sale from old stock in certain stores, but that's it.
