New to Android; Trying to Figure Out What's What...

Ok So I bought a Brand New -Never Activated- Verizon Motorola Droid "Pro" -the one with the lil keyboard on the bottom- I want to Flash it to Metro...

I have Found a Couple different How-to's on Flashing a Droid 1 or X but nothing geared towards the "Pro"... Is it the same General Process..?

I have Flash my Moto Q... But this Android World is New to me...

So Im first trying to figure out what "Rooting" is all about and if it is even needed to Flash the phone to metro..?

I read one How-To and then saw a posting somewhere else about another -newer- method without having to Root... But No One has Posted this New Method... So whats What with the Right New Way to Flash..?

rooting is pretty much removing the bloatware from the service provider. rooting would be ideal with your situation. you won't need the verizon software if you're putting it on metro. definitely remove it. if the droid pro is on the houdini list then take it to your local store and have them flash it. once it's flashed then root and set up your web/mms, etc.

    Well...

I know how to get into the Basic Program Settings... But I dont recall much of the NAM Settings for Metro...

If I recall right setting these up in the phone should put it on the Metro Network/System ie make the phone able to call #228 and get metro...

Then all I would need to do is get the ESN into metro and setup WEB and MMS and all that...

    Right..?

hardest thing to do is get the esn into metro's system, which isn't too hard...

after that then work on your settings. *228 is more like it
