It wont update even when using WiFi? Does it give the "service unavailable" error message? If so, try it like 5-10 times in a row. It took me doing it a few times until it went through and connected to get the update.

No. Tried it many many times on WiFi and 3G. Get the same error message everytime. Its going back anyway, so its not a big deal, just annoying.

This update actually causes the rebooting...but I can say that it doesn't affect all TB's, as mine hasn't rebooted itself once...and I installed the update within an hour of it being available.

Rumor is that the next update will have Gingerbread and will be out on June 30 or shortly after.

I just bit the bullet and bought a (supposedly) new Thunderbolt on eBay in hopes of locking in a 4G unlimited plan for sure. Will probably get the phone right around the time this update comes out, so that's a plus! Maybe it will help prolong battery life...?

HTC was saying they were going to update it to Gingerbread this summer, and there has already been a leak to the updated OS, so I really doubt it's fake.

I doubt we will see any update roll out before the end of the month. heck at this pace i doubt we'll see anything next month. I just keep emailing HTC support every week asking for updates.

Makes me really want to root and install a different rom.

That's the point I'm at. I've had the TB for a week now, and while I like it, I've been wanting to dig in under the hood and get involved with some custom ROMS. I've been holding off hearing that the GB update is around the corner, but if it's pushed back, I'm going to have to reconsider.

I'm in the same boat as you two. I might root it over the long weekend if the update doesn't come first.

You guys manage to hold out?

Obviously there was no GB at the end of June, and there's no reason that I've seen to think it's coming in the next few weeks. I downloaded the root files this morning and might finally give it a go this afternoon after work.

Still stock. My weekends have been busy as of late, so I haven't really had a whole day to devote to it yet.

Was this the update that is like 78mb? I keep getting asked to download and install and hitting reject for now. Might want to make use of the free hotspot soon. Dont want to pay $30.
