I've set up this thread for those of us who are now on Verizon but were originally on Alltel and still have our Alltel voice plans (which are less $$$ than the comparable native Verizon plans). If you travel, like I do, you have to remember to OTA update (*228, option 2) when you're in your home market a lot lately as the PRLs seem to be changing almost on a bi-weekly basis now as the Alltel SIDs go away, Verizon's EVDO network expands and the Sprint EVDO towers drop off to lower priorities.
For those of us with phones that don't reliability OTA update or for those of us who would like to experiment/compare other Alltel/Verizon PRLs from other markets, this is the thread for you! I'd like this thread to be a continuation of The Answerman's site: http://www.the-answerman.com/sidlist/prl/index.asp to whom I am very grateful. He has done an excellent job of posting new PRLs as they've come out in the past but has seemingly lost interest in the cause.
Syntax:
Verizon Plans:
- 52xxx Prl is for Heritage Verizon rate plans with a VZW sided PRL.
- 65xxx is a Hybrid PRL for VZW rate plans (Alltel sided)
Alltel converts (2xxx = 1X, 3xxxx and 4xxxx = EvDO/3G):
- 20xxx, 30xxx, & 40xxx are ALLTEL sided prls for ALLTEL rate plans
- 26xxx, 36xxx, & 46xxx are VZW sided prls for ALLTEL rate plans
- 40xxx - 3G smartphones (HTC Touch Pro, Blackberries, etc), data cards, etc..
At this time, I believe the latest (alltel sided) PRLs are 20068, 30068 and 40076. Please PM me if you need help extracting the PRLs from your phones. This will help everyone in the community.![]()

The interesting this is these grandfathered Alltel plans still prefer Alltel sids in areas that are now ATT and ATNI. Verizon has really changed very little other that removing analog from the tri mode prl and maintenance adjustments.
Still using a 3 watt analog bag phone in 2011!
Well, yes and no. Verizon has combined and moved around a lot of the SIDs. IMHO it should be simplified to 2 PRLs for Verizon.. one top loaded with the Verizon towers and one top loaded with the old Alltel stuff. Put those both in the #1 and #2 spots and then all of the other peers go after (Sprint, etc.) -- having different PRLs for Smartphones vs. data cards vs. basic phones is really a non-issue at this point.
I still have a prepaid phone on an Alltel plan... the PRL on my Verizon phone (LG VX5600) is 20065. The only difference on my plan since the takeover is that Sprint roaming is no longer free... looks like any non Verizon (or non Alltel) signal on prepaid is charged roaming.

They removed most of the Sprint sids in this area. I will try and post the 2xxxx prl later. I had a collection of all of them going but lost interest. Im curious to see what they will do come the end of June when this is mostly rapped up.
I am a grandfathered Alltel customer with Verizon. I use the EC 168, and the signal has been going down since the merger. It doesn't help that with Verizon, I am in its roaming area. When Verizon had it 4G shutdown a few weeks ago, my 3G went down with it, and for days after 4G was back online, I still didn't have my service. Then it started to come back, but the signal was so unstable that I can't use the card. I have to have the PRLs emailed because the card can't take the PRLs and updates for some reason. One tech says it is because I am using an Alltel device and the towers are Verizon, so the update can't go through. Verizon cards don't work in my area, either. I've been using dial up for the last so many weeks, and I am seriously considering canceling my service with Verizon. All of this stinks because I am in a very rural area where I can't get DSL or cable internet, and I'm in the no coverage or roaming areas of the other cell carriers as well (not to mention they don't have unlimited data). Satellite internet is way too expensive for me, and there are no wi-fi connections either. All of this is beyond irritating.

30068 here in Charlotte, NC, Alltel still on SID114 and Vzw still on SID139. This is one of the few spots where they have both cellular bands. No decrease in service quality at all. I do drop a few more calls, but it's rare. I'm not sure when they will change anything here. This is a heavy, heavy Alltel area, so I think Vzw may tread gently around here and make sure it goes well. I'm traveling outside of the Alltel area and up to NY for the first time since last July on Thursday, It should be interesting to see if there are any changes noticed.
For us they seemed to have changed SIDs. It was 42, now 202.... I think all of Southwest Florida is now 202 (old Winter Haven/Lakeland SID). I believe 42 and 202 were merged.
I've also been noticing more dropped calls. EvDO Rev.A speeds have been good though.
I also noticed that Verizon has changed some of the error recordings and such; some divested markets in Georgia kept its old Alltel recordings; while in others the old Alltel recordings were "Verizonized" without the "Welcome to Verizon Wireless..."
On my prepaid phone (w/ no voicemail), unanswered calls (when the phone is powered off) had the
1. "Alltel 302" recording
2. the "Verizonized" recording of 302 (this still exists for those users in divested Alltel markets south of ATL and east of Columbus)
3. and now, I have the Verizon 41 recording (as my number is based in metro Atlanta)
And to top it all off, folks in the old "302" (formerly PSC wireless GSM) were pushed to Alltel 204 (in Georgia) or 444 in Alabama... it is some interesting historical stuff
I would love to, but I don't know how to pull the prl from the modem.Would you mind uploading it? I'd like to start capturing these.
On my prepaid phone, it prefers the Alltel towers, and the PRL is 20065 (on my VX 5600). The only difference is (from what I could see without getting in the innards) that Sprint and other non Verizon/Alltel towers are charged $0.59/min.
I am not denied access to the towers, though. I was able to lock on to a Sprint tower and was hit with the fee. It was strange that the triangle didn't come on... I will have to test it again some other time.
When I had the Samsung Hue, I had a 300?? PRL since it is an EVDO phone. So it is almost similar in that regard.
