No that is not possible. Condition 2: Cannot send batteries on their own (must be installed in phone)

Sea mail is not risky, you can put insurance on the item.

But it is slow. It will take up to 2 months.

And your question from before about sellers banning Indonesia - it is probably NOT about postage. It is probably because they think they will be scammed. Same with Nigeria; I feel sorry for any honest people there!

i see now what do you mean in the 4 major...
so, it's not that you must send it separately, but you CAN'T send it separately right??
so, I have to send it with the phone.. but, this option only work with sea mail ya?but, it's okay..better than nothing..hahahaha..xD

I wonder if I can buy it from yahoo auction..it's really cheaper..

too bad about the scam matter though...

thanks a lot tokyo_dom for explaining it..

As someone who's just gotten theirs back from unlocking a few days ago (thank you!)-

4 - no root as of yet
5 - perhaps because of #3 and #4, battery life on my SH-13C seems way worse than battery life on my Nexus S, given the same user-installed apps and settings and usage throughout the day (1230mAh battery on SH-13C, 1500mAh on Nexus S)
2- Oddly enough, tethering works just fine with my China Unicom card. It may be that it just checks with the current carrier.
3- Ah, yes. The Japan-specific apps. The D-menu works fine, but other than that, phonebook backup, bookstore, things like that don't function.
4- This has also annoyed me. It means I'll have to grab a rental microSIM or something next time I go to Japan to install the Mobile Suica and other Osaifu-keitai apps since Market Enabler won't work.
5- If by "way worse" you mean "it lasts about a day under good conditions" then yes. I've already had it run out on me.

But I'm mostly happy with it. I'd be even happier if someone had the APKs for Mobile Suica and all that, but I can wait.

I think I had some apps sucking a bit of my battery life, though I can't quite figure out which one(s) it was. Battery life is a bit better now, although I keep data off, wifi and sync off most of the times (since I'm abroad, don't want roaming fees with DoCoMo).

Coulda been all the docomo apps that auto-updated while I wasn't looking. Now that I uninstalled those "updates", things seem better.

Seems like you can still install those docomo/japan apps while out of Japan if you have a DoCoMo SIM in the phone. Can't use some of them of course cuz they require FOMA, and I don't want to enable data...

850 yes, 1900 no. So find someone with a SIM for the provider you want to use and test. I know enough Japanese to use docomo's roaming service search site, and it says there's Bell and Telus 3G 850 service in Vancouver and Richmond (areas relevant to my interests). So I know that I can use one of those two. Now, it also said there's Rogers service but it's not specific about whether that's GSM or 3G. With Bell/Telus, they have no GSM so I know it's 3G.

Well tethering works just fine for me too on Fido, so I guess this whole thing about tethering being blocked when not on DoCoMo just is a myth, at least as far as the SH-13C is concerned.

I also set my 13C to 3G only so it definitely works on Fido 3G (meaning Rogers, Bell, Telus, Virgin and Fido should be OK, probably even Koodo now that they do 3G).

Actually, a few days after I posted that I dug up a green FOMA card from... I actually picked it up off the ground while shopping a few years ago. At the time, I popped it into my SO905i (now stolen by pickpocket) and it picked up no signal so I assumed the owner already reported it lost and kept it (no contact info inside). Then I lost it at home (didn't have a use for it, so I didn't really take care to keep it safe) and found it then while cleaning my room.

Anyway, cut it down to size, popped it in, it worked. Downloaded all the FeliCa apps I could ever need/want (currently installed Edy, Waon, Suica, ANA mileage card, and a few others). But thanks for the offer.

The battery will last you close to one day or you can get a mugen power battery with more battery life. Can't answer your other questions.
