Too bad! I think you're the third (not sure) person to report connection problems with a "software unlocked" phone. If you were charged for this software unlock, you should get your money back or they should fix your phone for free. Or they should fully refund you on your purchase as this seems a pretty serious issue to me.

Hahaha I guess the next time I go to japan and run into a street vendor selling cheap 007SHs I'll ask him for a refund :P

To be honest though I haven't tried the CPR with 3G only, since my other phone only has options for "2G" and "Auto". I think I'll give rooting it a shot before calling it quits at least, though.

Well if ever there was a time to admit my own stupidity it would be now :P
I finally had a chance to find a friend with a T-Mobile Sim card to test the phone on, and voila- 5 bars, everywhere. Looks like a AT&T is the cause of the problems with this phone then. Thanks for your help guys!

i jez got mine solved as well.....after i used the vry expensive inex hypersim via ebay:-

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/inex-Hypersi...item3378e7f5fb

so i guess the prob lies with the hypersim...instead of AT&T...i'm from malaysia btw...my network provider is DIGI

if all your methods still fail u, do giv this a try...the cost of inex hypersim is USD 85 aft adding the postage fee. AND (in my case) the dealer is willing to refund USD 60 on used hypersim should this hypersim did not work on your phone. So, atleast ur lost is not a 100%

As I'm writing this question i use the 007sh on wifi, what I can't seem to pull off is to get the phone remember my apn settings after I entered them. What it does is give me a blanco list of where my apn address should pop up so far no luck. Also I wanted to ask of the physical keyboard can be set on T9 because now I have type every digit of what I write. Also I can't seem to find a spacebar button on the physical keyboard.

    * The APN details you input are associated with the SIM card. When you remove the SIM card, they are gone but should be restored when you reinsert the SIM card.
    * No T9 for the physical keyboard, as far as I know.
    * Press the cursor to the right.

As Cheeseus said; the phone will only show the APNs that match your current SIM's MNC/MCC code. When you have no sim in the phone, it shows NO APNs.

When you enter in an APN with a different MCC and MNC than your current SIM, it will just 'disappear' when you save it. It is not lost, it is just filtered out of the display.

Note that when using a hypersim, it will spoof the MCC/MNC that the phone sees, to 001/01. This is the TEST combo, accepted by almost all phones worldwide (hence bypassing the sim lock). If you are entering in the APN details while using a Hypersim, you must specify 001/01 instead of the ones supplied by your provider, in order for you to be able to select that APN from the APN screen.

And AFAIK, no T9 from the keyboard. I wrote to a bunch of IME developers, offering up to $50 for them to map the hardware keys to their IME (something they already do for hardware qwerty phones); but nobody even bothered responding. I was going to write my own IME, but realised it was beyond my capabilities, and would take more free time than i had available

If i go to Japan, and buy the 007SH at the local store, can i unlock that somewhere? For example at the docomo shops (or they won't do with software unlock on Softbank models) ?

This is the type of question that just makes you want to hit your head against the wall, no offense but you can't seriously read the stickies or search the forum??.

They won't unlock it on Docomo stores for you and as far as I know only Docono have SIM unlock not SoftBank.......so even if you buy it they won't unlock it and I doubt you could just buy the phone unless you show them proper id and stay longer than 3 months.......that or just buy it second hand like ebay, zeroxkeitai or kyoex....

He did say he would go to Japan. This phone is available in many of the secondhand shops, where you can buy without an Alien Card (or the resident card as it is called now). And another member here said they had it unlocked by the shop they bought it off.

But i have combed Akihabara, and couldnt find any place that was able to unlock the phone (and i am talking about dodgy backyard 'unlock shops'). Most opened up google / 2CH and started looking at how to unlock it, when i asked.

Sorry if it sounds like I was rude I was only pointing to what we do here that is to point new members to read the information that's already on our forums.

Good luck getting the phone you could also contact zerox678 or kyoex for phones..

    I got my 007sh soft-unlocked from zerox678.

The phone was a bit expensive, but works completely fine. Even the stock browser works over the GSM data (in this thread someone said it doesn't work). I can send and receive sms/mms perfectly fine with the gosms app.
