I received the following info earlier last week. Anyone actually get this update? Thoughts? I'm not sure if I'm reading it right, but that processor seems under clocked like no other from Metro...

· HUA M860 Ascend–

· Upgrade not sent out yet - Probably sometime this week (not sure of days yet), Corporate will start sending over-the-air software update for the Huawei Ascend.

· IMPORTANT –

1. New software is still 2.1 NOT Android 2.2 yet. That will be a different update that will NOT be sent out over-the-air (FOTA)

2. No new features added

3. Performance enhancements include:

1. CPU clock speed increased from 245MHz to 400+MHz (in idle mode)

2. Slightly faster app switching

3. Smoother home screen scrolling

4. Slight improvement on dialer and contacts loading

5. Incoming call presentation improved by up to 40%

6. Slightly improved game play (depends on game type/complexity) (still no Angry Birds, since the phone is still on 2.1)

7. Browser pages load up to 10% faster

8. Boot up (power up) time reduced by 5%

HERE IS HOW YOU CAN TELL IF THE PHONE HAS RECEIVED ITS UPDATE:

Go into Menu > Settings > About Phone > Build Number.

If the handset received the update then it should have _FOTA at the end

Old New (after update)

There is no way to manually trigger the update.
