Suggestion on this iPhone 4 problem

    Hello,

This is the 2nd replacement iphone I got. Battery seemed to be charging normal and usage time and standby time is close to what my friend got.

However even after my battery is fully charged, under settings- general-usage, there are 2 fields, usage and standby time since last fully charged is showing up as dashes. Before I unplug the phone from the wall outlet, it is showing up as "0 minutes" for both fields. I tried soft reset the phone and still the same. Going to try restoring the phone. But before I restore, any other suggestions?

This is my 2nd phone that has the same problem. I want to see what I can test before going back to Apple Store.

    Thanks.

Are certain it was fully charged when you unplugged it? The battery icon in the status bar with change from a lightning bolt to a power plug icon. Also can check by turning on 'battery percentage' in settings. Also, does the usages page in settings say "phone has been plugged in since last full charge"?
Unlocked iPhone 5, unlocked iPhone 4

Yes...the battery icon is a power plug before I remove from the socket. And battery percentage shows 100%. For "phone has been plugged in since last charge",where can I find that under usage?even when the 2 fields showed info when I first got the phone, I never see this message!

Should be on the Usage screen. It will only say it if it has actually been plugged in since the last full charge. I guess the last thing to try is a full reset through settings or a clean restore through itunes.

Do you mind posting me a screen shot so that I know what to look for? Thanks!

I don't have a plug with me at the moment, so I can't force mine to show that message. But, if you open Settings->General->Usage it will be right there, can't miss it...if it thinks it has been plugged in since last charge.

    Found a screen shot:

Getting "-" for usage and standby always happens after you've done a reset (i.e., holding the on/off and Home buttons for at least ten seconds until the Apple logo appears). It should also say "Usage times will be shown after iPhone is fully charged" underneath the Usage and Standby times.

I seem to recall this happening to me after certain app crashes, too. I doubt the problem is hardware, especially if this is the second phone it's happening on. Do you have apps that crash so hard the phone restarts?

Thanks everyone for your help. I agree that probably not hardware related since this is the second phone I got. I haven't got any app that crashed though. Just strange that it did show numbers prior to unplugging. I am going to try to do a restore and see if it helps.

Restore your iPhone and this should sole your issue.
