Droid X custom ringtones

I create song snippets for use as ringtones on Audacity. Short of rooting, how can I use these ringtones on Marvin (my Droid) without downloading an MP3 creation app? I've explored but, so far, have been unable to make this work.

You can try this... create a directory on your SD card called "ringtones" (all in lowercase). then copy your mp3 files to that directory and your droid should pick up those mp3 files when you select a ringtone.

On your SD card, create a folder system that looks like this: Media/Audio/Ringtones and put the .mp3 files in the "Ringtones" folder. The phone should be able to see them then. If you want to use your own custom notifications, put the files here ---> Media/Audio/Notifications
