Hi all, I just came across this forum & thread and decided to try this out. I'm a complete noob so please forgive me if this is real simple. I've tried reading through the entire thread but nothing helps.
So I have a Sprint TP2 that I'm using as a Donor phone and a Samsung S2 I want to make work.
I have tried to follow post#26 (I assume thats the post everyone is going by) but I can't even seem to get out of the gate. The main issue i'm having is finding the COM Port. I downloaded the HTCDiagdrivers posted a few pages back. Right clicked & installed. I have my TP2 connected to my PC via Activesync(unless i'm suppose to connect it via another method). But for the life off me I cannot get it to come up as a COM Port. I've looked in Device Manager and it does NOT list it under Ports. Instead it shows up as "Windows based Mobile Device#2" under "Network Adapters"
Any ideas on how to get the COM port to show up or find which it is connected to. Without this, I can't seem to even move forward from step 1. I have spent half a day already and to no avail. So any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks
I'm actually completely fine with the "don't activate, just call sprint and tell them to take the meid off your account" part.
The part I can't figure out is how to actually PROCEED with the online order. I can't even add the .99 cent phone into my cart.It ALMOST lets me, and then says that because I'm on SERO, I'll have to go to a different part of the site (where the 99 cent deal doesn't exist) or call in.
I thought other people on SERO were having success at least ORDERING the phone with this deal, right? Using incognito window, or something? (Which I tried, no luck...)
Are you on SERO? I still can't get that incognito window trick to work.
Any help would be appreciated. I just need to get this thing in my cart so I can checkout! :-P
Thanks!
For those of you not seeing the COM port, you need to do the following :
1) Dial ##3424# (this puts the phone in diagnostic mode. On some phones, you also need to manually choose an item in the menu to get it to diagnose mode)
2) You need your phone's diagnostic drivers. I linked the HTC drivers a few pages back that should work for the TP2, Diamond, Touch Pro, etc.
3) In some cases, you will need to manually select the diagnostic driver if Windows can't determine it automatically.

I need help big time. I have a TP2 that I have been trying to port over to my brand new S3. I have been following the Epic 4G to Boost Mobile Guide.pdf as well as the following thread from XDA http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...ight=all+zeros. I have been able to read my MSL/SPC for both phones and I backed up my NV Items. Well I tried writing the information I copied in QPST from my TP2 to my S3 but it wouldnt write giving me the message "roaming list file contains no data". Then I proceed to used QXDM to write the MEID of the TP2 to the S3 which worked. So then I went into ##3282# and tried to enter data from my TP2 to the S3. I entered my username@sprintpcs.com (the S3 default was xxxxxxxxxxxx@hcm.sprintpcs.com) and I entered the HA SPI/AAA SPI and meid. I exited but went back to read the data on the S3 using ##3282#. All the fields were blank and when I go back to try to enter the original S3 info the phone locks up and says "unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped". The phone either reboots or it will go to the the normal desktop. I went ahead returned the MEID setting using QXDM but it still didnt fix the problem of the error problem. I tried using a factory reboot but the ##3282# is still misising and I still cant modify the info w/o the error message popping up. I would truly appreciate anyones help or advice as I really cant afford to brick my new S3. Please dont tell me I am royally screwed.
PS: Also whereas before the QPST would recognize the S3 now it does not. At least CDMA workshop and QXDM can still see it.
Do the QXDM meid repair. Then follow post 154 using DFS.

Not sure if they had a bug in their system when I ordered. I do remember that if I logged in normally it wouldn't even show me the $0.99 price. I had to do InPrivate Browsing (IE) or InCognito window (Chrome). Can you try to remove cookies/session data and try it? Not sure if it would work but its worth a try. From what I remember I went to the site added the phones, it asked me if I was a new or existing user. I logged into my account and it applied the $150 credit and let me check out. Will try and remember if I did anything different.
UGH night no sleep lol. Progress so far - Went from a TP2 donor to a Epic 4g. Went through the entire process, wrote the changes to the phone using QPST. Rebooted the Epic4g and no services at all. I am online with sprint via chat and the rep seems to be doing the basics to reprogram. After a few minutes i can now make calls but nothing else at the moment. Not sure where i went wrong grrr..
Question guys - in QXDM the command to write the MEID from the donor - did you have to put a 0x prior to the MEID? I had to otherwise i received a buffer error.
Go to settings, system update.
If this doesn't work, do the *2 method as described a few pages back. That method never fails.

Update: Been at this all day now and have tried so many different settings.
Progress so far - Went from a TP2 donor to a Epic 4g. Tried all the settings from Page 2 and can for a few minutes get data and voice, but it is very flakey. What I mean is data will work(Very very slow) for a few mins then just stops unless i reboot. Calls out seem to work but when i test incoming calls sometimes they come in other times no ring and goes to voicemail. I saw some posts saying the use the last 16 digits for the Profile 1 aaa hex key instead so i tried that with no luck.
I also notice sometimes when i write using QPST some of the changes don't take. For example, on the MIP Tab - i set Active user to 0 then write. Then when phone reboots the 36 won't be on so i do ##DATA and notice it didn't work.
Even when 3g is working even though very slow when i go into the Sprint Zone app and do "test connection" the data part fails and update profile not working
Very frustrating so far... any ideas ???
VICTORY!!! I finally got it to work. Stupid me, but I didnt realize theres a Update Profile and Update PRL in Settings/System Update.
BIG shout out to AlpineMan...thanks for all your hard work and graciously taking the time to help others out. Also I would like to thank the other members here who have also helped me out.
I'm still in noob phase and struggling! AlpineMan and anyone else...help? I got the LG Viper, and am trying the process now, bit need your help. I'm stuck right at the beginning! I believe I got my SPC/MSL 6 digit number by using this program, but whenever I try to input the number in the CDMA WS (free version), I keep getting an error. The same thing happens in QPST as well. How do I go about getting the SPC number? Maybe I have the wrong one?? I'm trying to get stuff off of the TP2.
I'm trying to get the NV numbers, but need this step first. Can you guide me through this first part for Voice and Text? We'll worry about Data later. Thanks.
