The only thing you need from your donor is the MEID and NV Item 1192 (profile 0's AAA key). You don't even need the TP2's MSL to read 1192 if you use CDMA WS that's floating around the 'net.

    Does qpst/qxdm recognize your LG?

I'm using CDMA WS the free version, so I need the full version in order to read NV Item 1192 without the MSL? I have the MEID already. I thought I only needed the free version to get voice and text on the new phone? Is there a post here that I'm missing that I should re-read?

I haven't even tried qpst/qxdm on the LG yet. I was trying to make sure I have all of the NV items I need from the TP2.

BTW, for this to work, you must convert the "APN Backup & Restore" into a system app by either using Titanium Backup, or simply use Root Explorer/ES File Explorer (root enable it) to move the APK from /data/app to /system/app.
Hey AlpineMan, when I move the apk file to /system/app it no longer works. It just force closes. Should I go ahead and buy the Titanium app and give it shot or is there another way to delete and restore the APN?

After moving the apk, reboot your phone. If it still force closes, try deleting the app's data/cache. If that still doesn't work, go to your recovery, and delete cache/dalvik cache.

Titanium Backup's "convert to system app" is identical to you moving the apk manually.

    Error 16 message when dialing

Well after using my phone problem free since Sat evening this morning i tried making a phone call and received a Error 16 message telling me to call Sprint. I did a google search and found that its a Sprint security measure thats triggered commonly for people who have rooted or hard reset their phones. So my question is should I call Sprint with my S3 to hage them reset/fix my account or call back with my Touch Pro 2 and have them reset. Or is there some other method.

BTW, my voicemail alert wasnt working after I ported to the S3 so I am wondering if some setting for that was off and maybe that triggered the error message. Plus i have been dismissing the messages that tell me to update the system. is that potentially triggering some error?

I addressed this error 16 a couple of pages back. The solution is in that post as well.

For voicemail... I never got the stock voicemail app working on Android. The solution: install Youmail from Google Play store. Works better than stock anyway. Another alternative is Google Voice.

Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE -- Just Ordered

Hey everybody, I'm the original poster here who got us all discussing this. I've been very much enjoying my Epic 4G with full 3g (check out post #26 for instructions on 3g data) for many months now. FYI, the new CyanogenMod 7.2 ROM delivers voicemail notifications, and it has 3g/1x notifications so that you can tell if you're really on 3g or not. I'm really enjoying it.

BUT NOW... I just placed an order over the phone for the new Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE that just went on pre-order today. I'm wondering what it'll require to crack that, given that Motorola phones seem to have been difficult to crack prior to their purchase by Google, but I'm expecting it to be a simpler process this time around.

    Anyone have any thoughts???

Have a look here. This may apply to all Motorola phones: http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...-repair-SOLVED

This indeed is too hard. If I had no other options, I'll probably try it out if I had a Motorola phone. If you're still in the market on getting a phone to try this project on, I would start with an HTC or Samsung android phone. Once you've done your first phone you'll have a good understanding of what needs to be done for your next phone. You need to be able to walk first before you can run. ;-)

Man, I'd stay away from the Motorolas if this is what you want to do. The method described is very tedious, and is not only different for each model, but for each radio as well. Plus, I read through it briefly and supposedly you have to get some sort of script to run on boot or something (I may be wrong on this part, but the MEID finding is very hard). Is it just they keyboard that draws you to that phone over S3 or EVO LTE?

S3 rocks, and EVO LTE should be just as awesome despite its non-removable battery, 1Gb less of RAM, and .1" less of screen space. The EVO should be better with drops too because the glass doesn't go all the way to the edge. Plus screen protectors will go on easier due to non-curved glass.

The Photon Q specs seem to be the same as the original Photon, but with a better processor, keyboard, and LTE instead of WiMax. It beats out the S3 and EVO on radios as it is a world phone. It almost seems to be a replacement to the Touch Pro 2.

I've gotten a couple of PM's about doing this project on LG phones. I heard they're easy to do, too. I don't have one to experiment with, but it looks fairly straight forward. Have a look here as a starting point. http://androidforums.com/optimus-m-a...your-meid.html and http://forums.androidcentral.com/opt...mus-v.html#anb

Actually, the verizon s3 is also a world phone. Checkout the verizon s3 forum in xda... Someone discovered how to use it for GSM networks, too. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1809314

Thanks for these two links. I will try them this weekend, as I attempt to tackle the LG Viper.

Pretty neat! Too bad Sprint one doesn't use a SIM card for LTE or we'd probably have that option too.
