Hi i was wondering if the blackberry torch will work with chatr. right now i am with wind using the bold 9700 but i am getting the torch as a present so want to know if i can use it with chatr? does it have to be unlocked?
Yes, it will work on Chatr as long is it is either unlocked or locked to Rogers.
but chatr still doesn't have data right?
the torch would only work as a phone and wifi without BIS doesn't always work.

Chatr finally added data to its $45 dollar package, however its only a paltry 100MB per month, so no downloading music or streaming video's, unless you want to start owing more money in added charges.
They should have at least 500MB!
But its still better than nothing at all, and you can use tonnes of bbm's, and facebook/twitter apps on the daily!
Not to mention at home or at work you have your wifi hookups, so its a step in the right direction for Chatr, to compete with the el cheapo/good quality giants Mobilicity/Wind, who have unlimited data in their zones for about the same price, just not with BBTorch unfortunately.
boourns!
Yeah time to sell my torch then haha, I'm going to mobilicity!
Or try Fido prepaid $39 for talk/text/voicemail and the $20 addon for blackberry social media.
but that $60!
Mobilicity seems like the way to go, with unlimited everything in the zones.
You would be able to do browsing but not with the default Blackberry browser which goes through RIM's servers for compression and requires BIS. You would have to download a 3rd party browser.
I haven't tested WhatsApp but I've tested Touched and it works via a standard data plan.
Fido (monthly plan - personal/data):Novatel Wireless MC950D or Nokia CS-18
Rogers (pay as you go - Canadian prepaid): "Fido" LG Nexus-4
Rogers (monthly BIS data plan): Blackberry Q10
Red Pocket Mobile (US prepaid): Sony-Ericsson c510 or Sony-Ericsson w300i
T-Mobile (US prepaid): unlocked Fido iPhone 3GS 32GB or "Fido" Samsung Nexus-S
