I'm not sure. If you want to get one now...some Walmarts began selling them yesterday which is when I got mine.

Because T-Mobile corporate says they release the phone on Date X, and therefore it will only be sold by them on Date X and onwards.

You should be able to upgrade at Walmart as well...unless you have some special circumstances for your upgrade. I upgraded at Walmart.

If you upgrade at Walmart, can you keep the $20 Preferred Android Web plan? At least online upgrades always seem to specify a new data plan.

They didn't say anything about a data plan. I had to call tmobile later to add the data plan. I got the $30 android plan but I'm gonna call retentions later and get the preferred android data plan.

Actually...I'm not able to get the $20 Preferred Android Web plan now. I called and they said it would have to be offered to you to get it. They can't just add the feature. So I guess I'm stuck with the $30 data plan.

i upgraded through walmart (just today!) and they didnt even touch my plans! they kept the same exact plan Ive had and didnt change my data, text, or minutes which are ALL grandfathered plans. Even when I went to Tmobile retail, they were forced to change my data and minutes because it forces them to change me to a different plan.

CALL BACK! You have to speak with rention about it! if the first time you dont succeed try again! I was in a similar situation before and eventually i got a rep that gave it to me. If not just call in and say you want to cancel your account because you dont see a reason to stay with tmobile anymore since their data is so expensive. eventually retention will offer it to you

Hmm. I guess I should keep trying. She said she was in retentions and it was not possible to add the feature anymore. Might be cause they changed up their data plans recently. If its still possible to add it, then I'll try again.

There was a post in the Preferred $20 thread as of June 5th (after the new plans came out) that someone got it added:
