Ok...I really need the forum expertise here as my wife is all over me. Here's the story.
My wife has a T-mobile SE TM506 phone with just a message plan (no data plan) She gets yahoo email and she texts. She wants a full size keyboard and complains constantly about multitap on the TM506.
I called t-mobile sales folks. They said no problem just change devices to a Gravity 3 and your wife will be all set--no changes to her plans at all (or mine, more importantly).
So, I thought, if she can get email on the TM506 she can get it on the Gravity 3. The sales folks said so...
I buy the Gravity 3 from a third party and try to set up email and guess what...T-mobile tech support says no way (unless I buy a data plan--messaging plan is a no go. They cannot explain why she can get email now on the TM56 with just a messaging plan.)
So, if I can't solve this through unlocking or de-branding then I'm sending back the phone.
I can't figure out how to change the APN on the Gravity 3 ...I'm really stuck. I don't want to put my wife into a data plan.
Any help GREATLY appreciated to make the Gravity 3 work with email on T-mobile with just a messaging plan...
I have an older Gravity and just received a newer Gravity Touch that also can't get into the Yahoo email app for free anymore and the difference to me seems to be that the older phone is a non 3G phone and the newer phone has 3G so since it has 3G the email functionality requires the Data Plan to work... Errrrrrr I might just stick it out with my older phone. Also from reading some other forums it looks like the Gravity 2 and Gravity 3 both have 3G as well...
Also most of the TMobile Reps are so/so and are clueless as to why it works on the older Phones and doesn't work on the newer phones. If I happen to find a way to disable the 3G and get the Yahoo Email app to work I'll post up the results...
