in more detail: mobilespeedtest.com will just test the proxy that your phone is connected too since t-mobile uses one to compress the data before sending it to you

the speedtest.net app tests your phone directly, but i personally dont think the speedtest.net app is coded properly for gingerbread either, as mine is fast as hell tethered but the app shows low speeds although my downloads/webpages load really quick

I recently contacted T-Mobile and apparently others have called in with the same problem. After about 20 minutes of running tests and getting my info the tmo tech person said she will be in contact with me as their engineers work on it.

Metro PCS is CDMA, T-Mobile is GSM, any T-Mobile phone won't work on Metro

I just got my HTC Sensation phone Monday and my speeds have been really low too. I'll post my last 5 results with download, upload, and ping:

    155 kbps 81 kbps 242ms
    105 kbps 48 kbps 500ms
    11512 kbps 4095 kbps 79ms (wifi)
    76 kbps 19 kbps 464ms
    247 kbps 67 kbps 99ms

The first 2 tests were done on the Edge network, the last 3 on GPRS. I have not yet contacted TMobile about this, as I came here first.

The overall experience so far with this phone has been horrible; beginning with the short battery life and the HTC Sync software not working for me (sorry for going a little out of topic) and now the internet speed.

I feel like ripping the head off some T-Mobile call center supervisor.
