HTC Touch Pro "security unlocked" message HELP

Hello everyone. I've had my HTC Touch Pro 6850 on Boost Mobile for about a year (thanks to the help of some wonderful people here) and now I have a bit of a problem. My phone crashed and I attempted to do a hard reset according to the manual and I got a screen that says "security unlocked" at the top and has whatever the word is for the security code at the bottom, but I can't recall what the word is. It won't take me to the screen that will prompt for a hard reset. I've had to do a hard reset before. So the phone is useless to me. I bought a replacement, but I would still like to know if there's another way to reset the device or am I just going to need to drop it into a recycle bag?? Thanks guys. (the manual said to hold the "enter" and bottom volume key and then the power key to prompt the hard reset. and the screen that I just mentioned is what appeared, not the message letting you know that the phone was going to be reset to the manufactor settings)
