I am holding out for the release of the Samsung Attain (Galaxy S II), but I haven't seen any talk about it on here. Especially with the leaked pictures. Maybe I just missed the thread when I searched. Anyway, the rumor I keep hearing is a mid-July release date. Has anyone heard anything different?
I spoke with an AT&T rep who said they expect a release date of July 17th. I'm surprised there's no talk about this phone on here. This has to be one of the most highly anticipated Android phones of the year for AT&T. Dual processor, Android version 2.3, Samsung, thin, 8Mp camera on back w/ front facing camera too (unlike the Captivate), not huge (like the infuse), etc. It's the Galaxy S II coming to AT&T! I feel like I'm in the wrong forum to be posting. Please let me know if I am.
They're both fairly large, but to me that's a good thing!
You would think that with the amount of buzz this phone has gotten lately that the carriers would be a little more forthcoming with the release date. I've read a number of different articles, but all of them just say sometime in July. I hope the release date is tomorrow frankly, but definitely no later than the 17th..
Yeah, at this rate, maybe the 17th is the date they release the information to us. Like the official specs, release date, price, etc. From everywhere I've been reading, it sounds like all of our patience is truely being tested.
They have mentioned that it was going to have the Tegra 2 1Ghz SOC and not the Exynos 1.2Ghz dual core.
Who's "They"? Where'd you hear that, tx?
Pocketnow just reported on the FCC's July 5th approval of the GT-I9103, which is the Tegra 2 variant. Both the the GT-I9100 and the GT-I9103 are compatible with AT&T frequencies, so the Attain could technically be either one.
The only thing is, the GT-I9100 passed FCC testing back in mid-March. So, if the Attain is going to be the GT-I9103, then excuse me while I put on my chewbacca slippers, because I might as well be comfortable while I wait another 2 to 3 months..

Had to look up who posted it, phandroid. Tegra 2 isn't worth me spending on at this time with me still in contract. Prob will have to wait and see what is out near christmas or if they release the galaxy s2 plus by then or even new nexus.
It sounds like everything is just a rumor. If someone is getting the specs on it, then they should know price and release date, imo. For example, the specs here say it will have the S5PV310 Exynos 4210:
I'd be surprised if Samsung manufactures it with the Tegra after they've been putting int he Exynos in their international versions. You never know though. Maybe what cousin posted is the reason for the hold up.
"Yesterday, a Samsung smartphone that could be the Samsung Galaxy S2 Samsung Attain with HSPA (4G) was being approved by the FCC, suggesting a July or August release data."
Better late than never I guess.. Still, sh|t poor-PR on their part. That news announcement should have happened weeks ago.. Thanks for the update "dawg"..
"Following our report on Monday showing an unnamed Samsung slider headed to AT&T, we have confirmed that the device pictured is indeed a variant of Samsung’s blockbuster Galaxy S II headed to AT&T. Live images of the device reveal the Galaxy S II model number, SGH-I927, along with additional details..."
This is not the Attain; it even says so right in the article. The key word is S2 "variant", and everything else in bold.
The original S2 is SGH-i900. "Galaxy S2" represents a whole generation of new phones, not an individual model. Hence, there will be at least a few new Galaxy S2 phones appearing in the coming months..
