Caller ID Block On ST: Verizon / AT&T

Can ST phones be set to block caller ID - both Verizon and AT&T versions?

I tried *67 and #31# as well as my E71's own menus to no avail.

Try calling 712-580-9999 to see if you can get something working. If you call that number it will tell you your phone number by reading the caller ID data.

    Thanks.

Straight Talk doesn't even support call blocking so I doubt they support blocking caller ID.

    That's interesting.

So call blocking, caller ID blocking for a given call are impossible on ST?

What else is missing from their service?

There are codes for blocking Calling Line Identification to a specific destination number on GSM phones and many phones may have menu choices for blocking the CLI to all phones. Even with the blocking, the information is still sent along with the call. Whether or not the destination phone displays the number is dependent upon whether the destination switch honors the blocking request.

    Okay.

So…in the first post in this thread, the test-your-caller-ID phone number returns my caller ID at all times.

However particular carriers for whoever you call may or may not.

For instance I tried turning off the caller ID from my phone…it acts like it worked on the phone itself.

Perhaps it would work to some phones, but not to others, and not to the ID check number posted above...

    Sound about right?

Well....24/7 customer service. I am not gonna complain though..... for $45 dollars a month the service works great on my Inspire. My phone allows me to block calls....there are apps to block texts.....its all good....

My phone has the no-caller-ID option too. But calling 712-580-9999 identifies my number. Hmm. So with the no-caller-ID option still selected I called a takeout food order phone line. And got the message that the restaurant chain only accepts calls from non-private or unblocked lines. Interesting.

So that in-phone option DOES work. As noted by another, above, it depends on the other end of the phone line too. Which I confirmed via the calls noted just above.

So basically if you ever do need to make a "private" call on the ST service, that option is available to you not from the ST, but from ST compatible phones providing that feature. With some possible gotchas it appears.
