Since WinMo, Palm OS, and non-at&t Android have been tested, I can test Symbian and at&t Android for those asking. But keep in mind that I am too froogle to have double unlimited plans simultaneously being it unlikely I can use up a single unlimited plan in the first instance. Be back with results next month.

Pick one, Symbian or ATT Android. I think Att Android is more practical for most Hofos as there are only a few Symbian 3 Nokia users.

Good that WinMo Classic and Palm OS can be used as there are TONS of cheap Treos, Centros and Winmo phones out there. I'd suggest getting a 3g Att frequencied Winmo.

Also , if anyone has tested Web OS (Palm/HP), Windows Phone 7 and unbranded/unlocked iphones and the original iphone 2G, please post.

    Can't wait.

It would be neat if the Vivaz worked on this plan (it's only $99 contract-free at Radioshack!).

It would be really helpful if someone could test the Nokia N8.

What works. What doesn't work. What might work.

Palm OS. Confirmed working with data.
Windows Mobile (NOT WINDOWS PHONE 7) Confirmed working with data.
Unbranded Androids. Confirmed working with data.
Foreign/non Att Androids. Confirmed working with data.

Iphone 3g/3gs/4 Att version. Denied data. Talk/text work.
Blackberry. Denied data. Talk/text work. 8310 curve is probably Att version. 8320 is unclear. Available in both Tmobile and Att versions. Older OS. That means newer OSs are probably out.

One thing about Blackberry though, Att gophone does not have BIS/Blackberry Internet Service. Was this taken into account during the test? Would having used Opera Mini have made a difference? This leaves another possible loophole.

Web OS/Palm Pre Plus/Pixi Plus (Att/gsm versions). Untested.
    Nokia/Symbian 3. Untested.
    Att Androids. Untested.
    Samsung Bada. Untested.
Windows Phone 7 (Not Windows Mobile) . Untested.

I think the most important smartphones are the ones with a 3G Att channel available. Otherwise, you might as well put it on a Tmobile/Simple mobile $50 unlimited everything plan and get all the 2G you want for any phone, iphone included. And they don't have any dual smartphone/featurephone discrimination like Virgin Mobile, Att and Verizon prepaid do.

If anyone is using any of the untested devices and can get us a conclusion , we thank you in advance.
Also, if anyone finds a workaround or certain versions of the phones that don't work (iphone and Blackberry), that too would be greatly appreciated.

My theories: Iphone 2G MIGHT work. Unbranded, foreign unlocked/jailbroken 3g+ versions MIGHT work. Some Blackberries MIGHT work. As well as unbranded, foreign, Tmobile and other non Att Blackberries. Also, it is not confirmed whether it was the lack of BIS or just plain lack of data period which prevented the tested Berries from working with data. Perhaps a Opera Mini workaround could solve the issue.

Please post 'em if you got 'em.
What model device, what original carrier of device is and what OS it is running. Thanks!

If you want a Windows 7 phone, I wonder if the Bell Canada HTC HD7 (rather than the AT&T HTC HD7S) would work.

I have an unlocked Telus LG Optimus One that'd probably work for when I'm in the US, but I've already let my GoPhone SIM expire in favour of T-Mo prepaid for when I visit the States.

Keep it simple here please. Try to list tested models only. Thanks.

Please keep this thread to testing phones if possible. Keeps it trim.
If you have tested a smartphone and can confirm whether or not it works with data on this plan ($50 unlimited everything feature phone plan) please list the model/make/manufacturer, smartphone OS and original carrier.

    Thanks.

Htc hd2 works but the data is edge and 8320 bb is a tmobile branded phone that I put the Att service books on it. We put the sim in four more phones palm pixi a no go on data ; motorola backflip worked fine today: nokia nuron no go on data: but the most surpising is we tried every iPhone variant 3G,2g, and the 4 where the ones I was able to test . Now the phones tested belong to friends. The iPhone 3G,2g and 4 were jailbroken then I tried the 3G on normal firmware with an apn change and still a no go.

The iPhones are not handling any data except smartphone plan data with a apn changer on the prepaid side the 50 dollar plan only works on with text and talk for the iPhones .

HD2 is Tmobile. EDGE can't be helped. If an older Tmobile Blackberry is out, that means all Blackberries, newer and Att are out probably.

Nokia Nuron out means no Symbian 60. Symbian 3 still untested. (Symbian 3 phones are the only major lineup of smartphones with BOTH Att and Tmobile 3G data. )

Backflip uses Motoblur but is still Android based and Att. Means that Android Att phones have a good shot.

Iphones, still no go. Att ones only.

    So the score so far:
Works: Windows Mobile, Palm OS, Att and non Att Androids.

Doesn't work. Symbian 60/Nokia, Iphone most if not all Att versions, Blackberries both Att and Tmobile versions, Web OS gsm/Att Version.

Unknown: Foreign/unlocked iphones. Symbian 3. Samsung Bada. Windows Phone 7.

    Best bet: Android devices.
Palm OS devices are cheap but do not have 3G Att modes so might as well be used on Simple/Tmobile $50 unlimited plans as well.

Windows Mobile devices, good alternative to Android. Cheap, plentiful, many makers and options, not just touchscreen. Many have Att 3G modes.

Windows Mobile 7, Symbian, Bada, and Web OS frankly have 1)relatively small marketshares 2)Devices aren't nearly as plentiful as Android, Palm OS or Windows Mobile classic.

Blackberries were a disappointment but they're pretty worthless w/o Bis/Bes to some people.

    Keep posting folks.

Why is it that when someone finds a loophole, they want to tell the whole world? Eventually, with enough publicity, the loophole will be closed. Don't expect to be grandfathered in to an unauthorized data plan.
