I know a dealer that has one of those unlocked orange Motorola Flipouts, So that will work with the $50 unlimited everything plan without having to have a separate data plan?
Why is it that when someone finds a loophole, they want to tell the whole world? Eventually, with enough publicity, the loophole will be closed. Don't expect to be grandfathered in to an unauthorized data plan.
Just like when Boost CDMA stopped allowing Sprint devices to be activated?
Or like when Straight Talk stopped letting users swap their Nokia SIM cards into other phones?
Or when Virgin Mobile blocked WiFi tethering on the Optimus V?
Kind of like when T-Mobile prepaid stopped letting users use free data by using proxies?
Oh wait, people talked about all of those on HoFo and all still exist today. This is a place of sharing and people aren't censored here. I appreciate fonezfonz making this thread as it is informative to me and my possible switch.

Probably, but if it's the T-Mobile USA or Euro/Asian version it will only get EDGE voice/data on AT&T, no 3G. If it's the Rogers Canada version, it will get 3G on AT&T.

Page Plus's forum had a major thread started by another Hofo when they started their smartphone bans. The Hofo community pulled together and came up with a list of working devices to bypass the ban. Page Plus did nothing about it. And it helped a lot of people, users and dealers included who really got screwed over by the bans.
Blackberries are still officially banned and are being activated on Page Plus. They won't do it for you via CS but a friendly dealer can. Another Hofo thread revealed this.
Att may or may not be in a position to mess with this. Considering their precious iphone hasn't been touched I wouldn't worry too much. As for Palm OS, Win mo and Android devices, other then the last, the other two are no longer active , on the way to being phased out and are no longer cash cows that they can milk so are not threatened.
As for finding a loophole and telling the whole world about it . There WERE NO KNOWN LOOPHOLES until I went looking for one and now we have found a few BECAUSE of the help of our fellow Hofos. The list I'm posting would NOT EXIST without the help of members like jr3650sp ,flrjr42501, kecel and hopefully more in the very near future.
Mr. Parrish, you've had your say and voice on this matter and it has been duly noted. Any other positions other then contributing data on what smartphones work and don't work will be deemed as unnecessary and will be treated as
such. With all due respect, put plainly, either help or get out of the way.
I'd like to thank the other Hofos who have contributed thus far to this knowledge base and take the postion that this thread serves a useful purpose besides putting us into Att's crosshairs.
The whole point of a forum is to share information.
Let the chips fall where they may.
Now back to our regular programming.
Fellow Hofos interested in helping out, please list gsm smartphones that do and don't work with web on the $50 unlimited talk/text/data feature phone plan.
A recap on what we know so far:
Iphones, Blackberries, Symbian 60/Nokia, Web OS (New Palm) devices appear out.
Palm OS (old) /Windows Mobile Classic and Android devices are in.
Other OSs including Symbian 3, Samsung Bada, Windows Phone 7 are still unknown.
Dual mode cdma/gsm phones like Blackberry Storm series, Droid Global, etc, unknown.
Please list what phone /make and model/manufacturer, smartphone OS and original carrier and if it works with data or not.
I have a previously locked AT&T iphone4 4.3.3 firmware on 01.59.00 BaseBand now jailbroken & unlocked with ultrasn0w was using with Tmobile up until 6/26/11
As of today since the release of the $50 unlimited pay as you go AT&T unlimited plan. I have been using this plan
I also added the $15 for 100mb of data as soon as I eat up those 100mb's of data, I will see if unlimited data kicks in ( probably not since when I activated I did not use the IMEI of the pantech)
So to confirm- iphone4 on AT&T $50 unlimited prepaid plan. Data is working, but don't know if it is because of the $15 add on or if it is part of the unlimited. I will keep u posted.
Does anyone know if I can change the imei of this simcard, to one of the featured phone for this plan, the Pantech p7040p??

This is very interesting. Seeing as it directly targets Att's most defended flagship smartphone, the Iphone 4. Please do keep us informed tekniklyrawly. Please keep us posted...thanks.
Btw, the number on the simcard is not the imei, it is the iccid. The imei is the number on the phone itself. It is 15 digits and all gsm and iden equipment that uses sim cards has it.
One POSSIBLE trick is to call into customer care (regular Att, transfer over to live operator in Att Gophone side, not via IVR) and activate on a specific gsm phone imei number (for an approved feature phone of course like the Pantech Link) lock in that imei to your account then try and swap the sim to a smartphone like an iphone . I don't think every known bypass trick for the Att iphone series has yet been used and if we can find such a thing, why not?
Also factory unlocked Apple iphones, foreign English language unlocked iphones HAVE NOT been tested. Whether Att has any say in their imeis being controlled or not is a mystery at this point.
As for all those of you who have successfully gotten the Palm OS/Winmo/other devices to work, was said $50 unlimited feature phone sim activated in a feature phone FIRST and THEN transferred to smartphone or activated on the smartphone?
If you have smartphone that can be used or cannot be used on this plan with full data working, please list. Other then that all other topics are outside the scope of this thread.

This is not that interesting, since AT&T stated that a smartphone can be used with the $50 plan provided a data package is purchased which is exactly what tekniklyrawly did. If someone wants to pay $15 for each 100 MB of iPhone data used, AT&T is more than happy to take your money.

You don't have enough evidence to say that no Symbian 60 device will work just because a single Nuron device did not work. Other s60 devices may still work.
Hello, I'm wondering if this plan would possibly work with a unlocked AT&T branded Dell streak on 2.2. Any input would be appreciated because I'm thinking about taking a chance and porting from H2O wireless (my phone laughs at the 100MB per month) . My time ends today and I 'm thinking about purchasing one of the $9.99 gophones from Wal-mart tommorrow and activating it so I can switch out sims. Any thoughts?

Actually, it is because there is some evidence/possibility that tekniklyrawly said that he is going to find out if the unlimited plan kicks in after the 100 megs or not. It could go either way.

Considering Symbian all versions combined has 1-2% of the US smartphone market, it doesn't really mean much. But there is no evidence to the contrary. The Neuron has been the only Nokia Symbian device of any sort tested so far and it has failed, therefore that is the data we have AT THIS TIME. Therefore, you don't have enough evidence to state that other Symbian devices DO work. We need more evidence and that is where it stands.
Btw, Contribute or don't contribute to the data base. Simple choice.
Dell Streak is an Android. From what we've seen, it will probably work. Other Androids including the Att Backflip have been tested working though it runs a Motoblur version of Android. Unless Att has some hidden some Androids do and others don't surprise waiting in the wings for us.
Keep 'em coming folks.
Name your phone, maker, carrier and OS please. Does data work or doesn't it on the new Att unlimited everything feature phone plan including data. Data working via add ons 10/100/500 meg data packs DO NOT COUNT.
I bought a pay as you go $20 phone at walmart
Activated it at AT&T's go phone activation website.
Put in the sim cars number, but then entered the IMEI of my original never used ATt microsim from my iphone4
Picked the $50 plan, pressed submit. And voila, My iphone4 is working

SIM cards do not have IMEI numbers - only phones do. The number on the SIM card is IMSI.
