Unlocked Motorola Cliq works.
AND it has 3G, which was an awesome surpise(I thought it just had 2G bands). :P
An unlocked HTC myTouch 3G Slide works, though EDGE only because of lack of 850/1900 MHz 3G.
Samsung Galaxy Pro also works. The B7510L version has AT&T-compatible 3G.
This all keeps with the confirmed fact that non Att unlocked Android phones work on this plan without needing the additional (faster but more limited in quantity) data pack. All other smartphones that don't work, I recommend Red Pocket or Jolt's 2gb plan. Or if you're harder core, Straight Talk's Nokia unlocked sim loophole...
anybody tried a 4s?
Its works on GoPhone, you just don't get free data if thats what your asking.

AT&T 4G LTE
Hello,
I have tried reading as many posts as possible on this thread. But I could not see any information about which phone to activate the $50 unlimited plan.
I bought the cheapest at&t phone with $50 unlimited plan and I plan to activate it with that phone. After activation I intend to put the SIM into my Nokia E71 phone.
Is that the way to go?Or should I try having the plan activated with the Nokia?
On this thread I also read that there is throttling by att on this 3G service. Is that without exception and everywhere with every phone?
If it is a unlocked/unbranded NON Att phone, it may have a chance but we haven't seen any success with Symbian other then the Symbian 3 phones thus far. You may end up having to get a data pack. The only way to find out is to try it. If this doesn't work, burn off your megs of data and switch to Red Pocket or Jolt with 2gb next month for ten bucks more and no imei blocks...
Nearly all newer T-Mobile Samsung devices (SGSII, Galaxy s 4G, Exhibit II) have the NAM bands needed to work on AT&T. Same holds true for T-Mo's HTC Amaze. These phones should all be MediaNet/GoPhone compatible
Thanks for the reply fonezfonz.
How should I activate the new number? With the phone I ordered with this plan or the unlocked unbranded E71that I want to use the plan with?
If it works, will the connection speed not be like real 3G speeds because of the so-called throttling?
Nokia E71 was never offered by AT&T so it is a non-smartphone for all they care. AT&T carried the E71x but that was a different beast hardware-wise.
If data works, it'll be throttled to UMTS speeds (500 kbps or so), as basically AT&T is treating your phone as if it were a dumbphone. It is still faster than EDGE, but it is not good enough for streaming video or tethering to your laptop.
Thank you for the reply, CeluGeek.
I think my phone is E71.2 with 850/1900 Mhz 3G bands.I had bought it from amazon for around 300 dollars, not from at&t.
500kbps is not worth 50 dollars a month cost for me.I am not going to use more than 200 minutes a month. So unlimited talk is not offering much to me.However I value 3G data access.
Is this speed of 500kbps the same through N8?Or is it going to be real 3G speeds?
I couldn't break the 500 kbps barrier with an unlocked Samsung Galaxy Pro, never sold by AT&T and that phone is supposed to support up to 7.2 mbps. I guess you could experiment with the data settings and see if you can get an APN to give you a faster connection. That's something I didn't do on the Samsung -- it just detected my AT&T SIM card and configured the data settings automatically, and I rolled with those. I know of at least two data configuration settings; there's a third one but it should only be used by those with a PC/USB modem stick.
i know with my H20 sim, i was lucky if i could get over 300kbps, it was fine for most things (like slacker, pandora, etc) but if i tried to stream data, it was just plain awful, i could not even watch a 30sec youtube video without it stopping to buffer 3-4 times
I tried to cancel my order through att for a dumb phone with this plan today. They are closed.I will have to return it when it comes.
500kbps belongs to 20th century.Yes, it is better than nothing...
Is ST's data speed similar to this?
With VM's USB stick I was getting 800-1400kbps last year and I was complaining.
I even got a router for that but it is too cumbersome to carry it around with my phone.
Does Verizon have an Unlimited Text and Data plan on their prepaid smartphones?
