Okay, I tried on a unlocked AT&T branded Dell Streak and no data. I was met by a message saying I must purchase a data plan every time I tried going to a website. These are the APN settings I used.

Did you activate on the Smartphone or activate on a feature phone then transfer the sim ?
Androids have been able to work so far including one Motoblur/Android for Att as well as non Att branded and foreign/unbranded types.
Please clarify.
Could it be possible Att has a double standard for Androids. The Backflip was their first Android device (discontinued) while the Streak is a bit newer (but not latest). Wonder what's up?
Keep listing please smart devices that do and don't get data on the feature phone plan without adding on the feature package/data.
I activated a SIM card with the $50 plan. The phone I used to activate is an unlocked (Orange branded) Motorola Flipout. It activated fine. I put the SIM in and it works just no data. Do I need to change any settings? I put the SIM card in an LG Vu to see if that would work and data worked find on that phone. Just wondering if I need to change any settings since the Flipout isn't an AT&T branded phone. Thanks!
I activated the Samsung A107 feature phone then transferred my sim to my Dell Streak afterwards. Talk and text works fine, but no data. When I put the sim into the phone I did notice something weird, the sim didn't take to AT&T network when the phone booted. I had to turn airplane mode on then off for it to register. Also it did the same in my wife's streak and her phone is unlocked too.
Everybody loves to be right and nitpick. I said PROBABLY. So whatever.
Windows Mobile and Palm OS look to be good on most devices. Android so far has been okay mostly but some miss too. We could use a greater variety of devices to make further confirmations, especially on Att branded Androids as the two reported devices have had mixed results. Motorola Backflip: OK. Dell Streak: No go.
Bottomline, keep posting smartphones that work and don't work with the unlimited data portion of the new $50 unlimited feature phone plan.
If you're a gadfly, get lost and rain on someone else's parade. You know who you are.
I feel that it is a misuse of these forums to serve as a clearinghouse for cheating the carrier out of its charges for data service. If you discover that your phone gets past the restrictions, so be it. Are people going to try to use the phone they have or rush out to buy a phone on the list?

Seriously?!
I'm sorry but I don't have any sympathy for the carriers who have screwed the customer at every turn and nickel and dimed us all to death for years. Perhaps AT&T should more clearly advertise "$50 Unlimited Talk/Text/Web DUMBPHONES ONLY" otherwise they should expect folks to try.
Forums are for discussion. No one is being forced to implement anything which might arise out of that discussion.
An operator of a forum is responsible for what its members write, regardless of any disclaimers. What is hard to understand about this statement from AT&T Mobility?
Choose a prepaid plan that works best for you – monthly, daily, or by the minute:
- $50/Monthly Unlimited plan includes unlimited talk, text, and access to Internet, email, social networks, and more! (Smartphone users must purchase a separate data package.)
- $2/Daily Unlimited plan includes text, IM, picture, sound, and video messages nationwide. Pay only on days used. Data packages can be added for Web access. Plus, Unlimited Plans include text & IM to Mexico, Canada, and over 100 countries.
- 10˘/Minute plan offers your choice of additional text and data packages.
I am a little confused. My Verizon phone was able to roam on GSM because they used TDMA. Tell it was shutdown. The phone recognizes it as Analog. If PCS has TDMA, It could be technically be used on GSM.
