The reply was to the moderator. There is a thread in the Apple Forum about someone who found an iPhone 3GS. The advice given was that one should not use something not lawfully obtained. There is a parallel in this thread. The impression given is that it is alright to steal from a large corporation but not alright to steal from an individual.

Not lawfully obtained? You have failed completely in showing that using a smartphone on the $50 plan with the included data is illegal. There is no law prohibiting this. As I posted, there are not even any consequences in AT&T's terms and conditions aside from them switching you to a different plan. AT&T doesn't threaten to cancel your plan or threaten to report you the authorities or anything.
Again, the question which is what you have failed to answer, if AT&T does not care, why should you??
As I stated earlier, it is too early to know whether AT&T cares or not. It would be a shame that the infant is killed in the crib because of misuse of the data plan.
Has anyone put a Bell Mobility Android or iPhone on this yet?
Using one of those phones makes this possibly a better deal than StraightTalk. No $170 paperweight. Customer service in English. About the same price. The free operator assisted 411 is a ST perk though.
The Bell android phones will/should work. People have tested a few international/nonATT android phones to work. Not sure about the iPhone. The only thing that is still unresolved is the 3g data speeds. Straight talk will give you HSPA speed I think.
I am really considering this deal, if I can get full 3g speed and not throttled 0.20 mbps.
Theft is a crime in every state in the United States. Prosecution is handled by the local law enforcement agencies and not by the victim of the crime. The victim is only a witness.

Anyway, keep posting what smartphones do and do not work with data on the new $50 feature phone talk/text/data unlimited plan. Do not post if you are adding on a data package.
And post data speeds download/upload if you can.
If it's throttled badly, might as well use Tmobile's plan. At least they allow all phones even on EDGE only.
Keep posting though. Inquiring minds want to know. List make/model/carrier of phone and did you activate directly or swap a sim from a feature phone?
One little caveat - at least 3G allows simultaneous voice/data, not possible on EDGE (AT&T or T-Mobile). Also I've found the 3G fast enough - about 3X faster than AT&T's own EDGE, even on GoPhone. I also find 3G easier on the battery (iPhone) than EDGE on either carrier. YMMV.
Glad to see you dub AT&T incompetent alongside T-Mobile..."Two turkeys don't make an eagle "
I digress.... Anyone try a Moto Milestone NAM with this plan? It will likely work. Yall should consult the MediaNet people since its the same system....

I wonder if you share this same rationale with being charged $25 for 500MB versus the 2 gig postpaid. In addition, having our speeds severely throttled to about 1/6th that of postpaid.
How about AT&T locking my iphone that I have purchased and paid out? How about AT&T snapping up the only GSM/WCDMA competitor (Tmobile), meaning we are stuck with dude phones if we do not use them?
I don't condone theft of services. But I'm always amazed at folks who are more concerned with the welfare of a multi-billion dollar international company over a regular Joe. Never can quite understand it...![]()
Does Verizon have an Unlimited Text and Data plan on their prepaid smartphones?
