I fear that the problem WAS in the settings and no reset was actually needed. I got no 'tones' on my phone so I decided to investigate. Go to SETTINGS, then TOUCH, then TOUCHSCREEN EFFECT. The first option is TYPE and this must be set to TONE or TOUCH TONE & Vib. After doing this, I now have tones when dialing which is what is needed for voice-mail. Can't test it for vm because the LG 800g I am using is not active, but it should work!

I've wasted 40 tracfone minutes, many hours of searching on-line and a phone call to a man from the tracfone customer service who gave me useless information. However, reb01501, I followed your directions of powering down and taking the SIM card out for a minute and now the voicemail works as it should! Thank you!
