Running a Pixi Plus on Page Plus. Bought 400 minutes, but no texting or data. Apparently you can still send and receive texts and it deducts $ from your account. (It's wired how you have to calculate your remaining minutes.)
So here's the question. Supposed some stranger starts spamming you on texts. Now your balance is getting used up. Is there any way to turn of texting so that someone can't maliciously keep sending you texts to burn up your minutes?

yes, just use your account on the web site. You do have your phone registered so you can manage it on their web site, right?
It's very simple. And it all works great.
Yes, CS can do it as well.
Yeah, I keep getting an error message when I try to uncheck it on the web site. Customer service it is . . .
I have never had any luck with the site, it won't let me disable texts every time I've tried. Got lucky though, called CS and they did it... total time 10 minutes!
Sorry for the old bump but I have no idea where you can see how to uncheck it online? Trying to do this on a friends standard plan who sometimes gets random texts. She just wants it for calls and has only sent 2 texts in the last 5 years so no point in having it enabled now.

You can also email a support ticket from the PPC website if you can't use Live Chat because you're working, busy, no access to a computer, etc. during Live Chat hours. I just did that for my dad's line... hopefully they'll just turn off the SMS without any hassle so he won't get any spam texts (he uses his cell for calls only).
Had to disable both text messaging and voicemail on my Mom's LG VX3450 at the end of April(early Mother's Day gift). Got a lot of text spamming and robocalls as soon as I activated it. Since neither feature was wanted anyway it was no big deal to cancel both features. It's basically an emergency purse phone and didn't want the balance depleted from spammers. Tried to deactivate both on the PagePlus OLAM system but didn't work. A quick call to PagePlus customer service took care of this..was placed briefly on hold while they had their tech department zap out both features. Also added ten bucks to the account so there was a more usable balance.
For the Motorola StarTAC I recently activated on PagePlus, I'm keeping the text messaging and voicemail features since I need and want both....and fortunately have had only one robocall and no text spamming so far. Also registered the number for the do not call list (to discourage more honest robo-callers).
