Anyone recall how long it took Devs to root the D2? I hate not having root. I had updated to Liquid GB on my D1 prior to the upgrade (D1 is now fiance's) and the ability to know that I could go into the loader and completely take everything back to base made me very happy.

I was on t-mobile and had the G1. At best buy they said they knew nothing about the D3. I went in the morning before I saw people were able to call into VZ and order it. I know I will be able to exchange it, I was just wondering if anyone has heard of Best Buy selling it before the VZ stores like what happened when the X2 came out.

Is the 3G GSM radio unlocked?

I'm curious to know if the radio is locked down to only work with the Verizon sim card and if so, can it be unlocked to work on all networks worldwide?

On my Droid 2 Global I did get the sim unlock code from Verizon which allows me to use the phone with an International sim card but it still won't work on any US GSM networks.

They did, but the odd thing is my total charge was $20.29. My receipt was:
    MOTMB870 Motorola DRO -199.99
    MOTXT862 Motorola DRO 169.99
    FEDEXSHP005 14.99
    RESTOCKFEE 35.00
    Tax Refund -12.00
    MI State Sales Tax 12.30
    Total Tax .30
    Total 20.29

    Seems like I got a D3 for $170... I'm fine with that

Best comment I have seen in a long time. But then again, my degrees were in Math and Physics, so this kind of humor is not for everyone;-)

The D2 Global isn't meant to work on US carriers such as AT&T and T-Mobile. They are blocked.

My guess wouldbe that the D3 won't work with US GSM networks either. Why have a phone that will work on your competitor's network? The rep who ordered mine for me screwed up and now I'm not getting mine until Monday. I'm pissed.

Here's the specs from the Dev site:
    http://developer.motorola.com/products/droid-3-xt862/
It does list the RAM as 512MB, and there's about 11GB free of internal storage (out of 16GB).
Front camera is only 0.3MP (VGA).
=>Why did I leave Verizon Wireless after 18 years? Find out here: Leaving Verizon after 18 years!

=> Read my reviews for the Motorola DROID MAXX, DROID Ultra, and DROID Mini.

    => VX8000 at Disney World:Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4.

    Thanks champ. That's great.

That site gives me the final word on the bands supported.

Not sure if this was still in question or not, but the dev site also says it's using the OMAP 4430.

Re: 2.3.4, I thought someone in the pre-release thread said that you might be able to use Google video chat instead of skype. Did i understand that correctly? If yes, can anyone confirm or denounce this?

I was thinking if it was 2.3.3 it was not possible.

I also ordered this phone yesterday. I did it online and got it for 158.99 (tax and everything included) with corp discount on a secondary line. I also worried it would trigger into tiered data, but as previously noted in this thread, there were radio buttons for the new tiered data, but the preselected (default) option was my current unlimited data. Only option was free 2 day FedEx, no overnight. Will wait till Monday.

Also, why does this thread show 77 replies, but are only numbered through 74 (showing as six pages, but page "six" redirects to page "five" and there appears to be no replies since Joe12304...
