Blackberry Torch has better reception versus Nexus S.

In my area, the Blackberry Torch's reception was fairly good, 1 to 2 bars.

    The Nexus S, 0 to 1 bars.

Not going to take it back, but if anyone is wondering, this is what I've found to be true.

    skullan,

I have similar experience on both - especially where the coverage or the signal quality is marginal, Nexus S (as well as its Samsung siblings in the Galaxy S series) is relatively weaker than the BlackBerry Torch. I go beyond just the "bars" but more on the actual Carrier-to-Noise ratio (Ec/N0) and the "slow / lagging" data session experience.

I've always had awesome experience with reception on my BlackBerry devices in my area of town known for weak signal. My Nexus doesn't work nearly as well as my old 9780 but works WAY better than my old HTC Desire Z (which I sold to get a the Nexus S).

From my experience Blackberry devices tend to have the best reception (except for the older Sony Ericsson and older Nokia devices).
