It's not Gingerbread, just some random updates coupled with more bloatware.

    HTC ThunderBolt update 1.70.605.0

There is a new software 1.70.605.0 for the Thunderbolt, but does not upgrade it to Gingerbread.

I gave it a try, and it finally fixed the issue with the GPS lock. It only only takes about 5 seconds instead of 90 seconds.

Yep, it does. Now when you turn on the hotspot, a window pops up telling you to call Verizon to activate.

When I first had the Thunderbolt, it was always cycling though 4g, 3, and 1x.
Then when the 1st update came out, it fixed the problem and it stayed locked on 4g.
Now with this new update, it keeps bouncing between 4g and 3g all the time. This is getting annoying.

Really the only update I've noticed is that the 3G symbol changed and the MyVerizon app works now. I'm not in a 4G area and I wasn't having the reboot problem (although I did notice the boot screen has changed).

But I was dragged to see it wasn't the GB update.

I'm in a 3G area and was having the reboot problem. Seems to have fixed it. Also has a built-in option to turn off LTE if you want to under the wireless network options. Saves a little battery since we haven't gotten LTE (yet) in our area. Other than those two and the items Jux listed that's about it I think. Overall a good update but I was hoping for Gingerbread too... Maybe later this month?

I got the update on Saturday. As of yesterday ... my tethering is still free ... I still have it on my account too (as of now) ... "Mobile Hotspot Promo" ... I am sure it is a matter of time ...

In addition ... I did get the prompt ... "this is only for a limited time" ... after the update.

It's the wife's phone ... will check again tonight.

Online account still says "promo" though.

Did anyone get this update that had flashed their phone with the MR2 update from a month or so ago? I used the "official" version of the MR2 update (supposed to fix the reboots), but still haven't gotten the 1.70 update yet. My phone is not rooted or anything.

Since Monday, it seems to be connected to 4g here pretty solid. Only an occasional change to 3g.

Yes and more, I noticed a couple of big changes with the new upgrade 1.70.605. (1) Skype (without video) can now be installed and operated. (2) Now, there is a way to turn off LTE/CDMA networking mode and use CDMA mode only.
