Samsung Galaxy SII but no 4G

T-Mobile was glad to activate my new, unlocked Galaxy SII and get it working---it is a GREAT device--phone, camera, Internet access---but no 4G.

After all the papers were signed, and i twas all set up, I noticed the connection was only 2G. So I asked a supervisor.

She said, no, T-Mobile won't link you up with 4G if you didn't buy the phone from T-Mobile. Even though the phone is clearly designed for 4G. Crazy, huh?

Has anyone else had this same experience?

Fact of the matter is T-Mobile reps don't know **** and will say anything to sell you one of their phones with a new contract.

The Galaxy S II you bought doesn't have 4G band support for T-Mobile. T-Mobile will support the phone just fine but the phone doesn't support the network, or you are outside of the 4G coverage area.

Your phone does not have AWS 3G/HSPA+ and Samsh*t NEVER WILL!
This is a reason why you can't get 3G/4G even you're in coverage.

    LOL!
GSM phone no need to do "activated"
Just put the activated SIM card in - you are ready to go!
All the t-mobile supervisor told u was false!
Your phone does not have AWS band, so no 3G/4G until at&t acquired t-mobile

You should done have more research the sgs2 version released so far does not have the band support in hardware to connect to t-mobile's hspa network. There's nothing they can do for you.

Samsung made an AWS version of the galaxy s, they may make one of the sgs2 as well. Few phones support 850/900/1900/2100 and the 1700 needed for AWS. It is a smaller customer base, the bands the initial model supports work on canada and europe as well as on at&t. But hey keep up with the name calling and practical realities be damned.

There will be no AWS SGS2 apparently. However there will be the Samsung Hercules which is rumoured to be the same huge form factor as the Infuse but with a bump up to a dual-core processor.

Buy some other phone that works properly on T-Mobile and sell the SGS2. Or switch to AT&T and use it on there.
