Has anyone had any success with using data while on a voice call on verizons 3G data?
Works fine with my Thunderbolt.
Hence ... I believe the Thunderbolt ... is the ONLY Verizon phone ... currently ... that can handle SVDO (Simultaneous Voice and Data).
I have read that the upcoming Bionic will have SVDO also on 3G.
Of course LTE based based phones can handle simultaneous voice and data because it has separate LTE and 3G radios allowing the voice over 3G and data over LTE, so long as LTE is available.
Again though, if LTE is not available, the ONLY 3G SVDO phone is the Thunderbolt. The other LTE based phone will be crippled too.
Essentially, if I understand things correctly, the Thunderbolt has two 3G radios hence allowing voice over one and data over the other.
Yeah I just did it the other day. Didn't even think about it until after I got off the call. Pretty slick. Would rather be on LTE, but it'll do for now...![]()

Yep works great on Thunderbolt, 3G and 4G. Its amazing but it seems like data speed is even faster in a call (slightly)

So ... as per this post http://www.vzbuzz.com/wp-content/upl...risonchart.jpg found here http://www.vzbuzz.com/2011/08/droid-...e-competition/ it looks like the Bionic does NOT support SVDO over 3G. It looks like the Thunderbolt will be the only phone that can.
Yes, I checked on my Bionic and it can only do voice and data at the same time if the data is connected over 4G.
If the data is connected over 3G, then you can do voice calls at the same time. So far it seems like only the Thunderbolt can do this, and no one still can give a solid answer why.

It appears ... if the phone can support "1X Advanced" ... then the phone can support SVDO over 3G.
Well the Thunderbolt isn't the only phone that supports it. Any LTE phone with the Qualcomm MDM9600 supports SVDO.
The new Pantech Breakout I believe supports it
And the new HTC Rezound I can 100% confirm supports it, it also uses the Qualcomm MDM9600 just like the Thunderbolt.
Yes, the Rezound does it. Tested it yesterday, worked fine on 3G.
Moving data and voice at the same time
