Panache has newer version of Android but myTouch is easier to root. Both can be unlocked fairly easily.

In a world where phones were free (hah!) and politicians were honest... (double hah!)...
Imagine, you have the choice to have either a Panache or a T-Mobile myTouch 4g.
Basically the same phone. (Yes, in real life, the T-Mobile one is cheaper, but, of course, in this scenario, they're both free.)
Let's also say, for argument's sake, that it didn't matter whether or not you could unlock the phone... I've heard tell of the Panache being hard to unlock, but I'm happy with Mobi, and wary of Wind, so, that's a theoretical non-issue.
Is there any difference between the two versions of the HTC Glacier? Which is better? Why?

Well you can root and flash custom roms on mt4g and that's a huge bonus.

Make no mistake, you can load MIUI and Modaco on the Mt4G!!
Panache cannot be rooted, definitely get a MT4G, it's cheaper by half too.

If you just want to use the phone out of the box, get the Panache because some Apps (such as TD Canada Trust, if that is important to you) are not approved for the MT4G.
If you want to have fun playing with ROMs, MT4G is the way to go.
ROMSs are fun... but I suspect they'll be less necessary with the Glacier, (be it Panache or MT) than it has been with my Optimus... the set-up bothered me.
Thanks for all the opinions, people!
If you buy a MT4G, you can root it, apply radio S-OFF, and *then* flash a Panache firmware. You will get the entire Panache experience, but also with the comfort of knowing you can always root it and change it up.
Don't even think about buying the Panache. The phone is better off a brick if you can't root. You flash the MIUI rom on there and you'll get in excess of 400mb of free MEMORY not storage space. Amazing speed. Panache = fail.
I wonder if any of the new exploits used in Fr3vo or AlphaRevX could provide temp root on the Panache? This could lead to a downgrade path which would allow the MT4G radio S-OFF exploit to be carried out.

In all honesty, the Panache is not as bad as people on here are making it out to be. It's still a slick device and not everyone who buys an expensive phone would/could root and/or flash different ROMs on it. Some just want/need a great phone out of the box with their provider, and the Panache is exactly that: a high end device ready right out of the box.
I would go with Mt4g!
After I used the MIUI ROM, I will NEVER go back to stock. And I have questions about HTC Sense as well.
