Will FIDO's Google Nexus S work on Chatr network?

My first question is do I need to unlock the phone for it to work on Chatr? Can I retain my current phone number when I switch my service over from Fido?

No it's unlocked already. But you won't get data services because Chatr doesn't offer them. You can port your number.
