Sooner or later I think someone is going to want to change provider but have been paying on time there 50 dollars a month and got the discounted 5 dollars every 6 payments and now pay less and would want to transfer their account.
Is this possible and can you still change the number and keep the discount?

You can't transfer phone numbers between Boost accounts, but you can port one out and back into an active account.
You can only do so on IDEN, so you'd have to migrate the account to IDEN, make sure the reps keep it on the $35/mo Plan... port in a number, then when that's done, you migrate it back over to CDMA.
I can tell you... if you can find a representative who you can get to do it... there is a $35 plan already in the system from many years ago. The old plan code is MUCGF35. It would be very difficult to have your current plan swapped to it, but it CAN be done.
Be sure that if you can get someone to do it that they don't use plan code MUC1335 which is the new "Shrinkage $35 Plan" because you will not get web/data on that plan yet.
thats good to know!
so numbers (from another carrier) can't be ported into boost cdma post-activation. or can they? (thats how newbie i am to Boost) i ported into boost upon activation but that of course wasnt between boost accounts.
i checked the Sale/Trade forum here and don't see anyone selling such account. or an account that has already reached $35 or $40 due to shrinkage tenure. i wish DT would hav such account set up on the old plan available to buy!
No one has reached $40 yet.
You can not port into an active CDMA account. You can port into a CDMA account during activation only.
I don't think you'll find too many people doing what you're looking for because in order to get to $40/$35 you have to be with Boost long enough that those people will want to keep their phone numbers, so they can't port them out and still keep the account.
IDEN does not have ESN numbers, they have IMEI and the SIM Card has an ID number. (a few posted below)
Also, migrating to IDEN from CDMA, then/or from IDEN to CDMA does not make you lose your shrinkage or balance, but because Boost's system is not perfect, you almost certainly will need to have a Boost rep either ticket the account to fix the Shrinkage, or credit the Shrinkage to go back to the amount of months you had credited.
I have personally noticed this issue, and Boost says it should be fixed, but since it is two different systems/networks they said it is taking time. *shrug*.
SIM ID: 000827470154300
SIM ID: 000834943753300
IMEI: 001703108166840
IMEI: 001700653092840
deathtrip,
That old plan code, is it also unlimited everything?
Yes it is unlimited everything.
DT u serial number factory, you!!! thxxx
Heh, I have a box here with about 300 Boost SIM Cards in it... and probably 100-150 IMEIs for old IDEN phones.
so i gather Boost Mobile is soooo good no one is selling their account with accumulated Shrinkage??
s2b, can old SIM card #s be used for new activations? which # of the 2 has to be NEW in order to avoid the $10 used surcharge??
On IDEN, you must have an unused activation number to avoid the activation fee, on CDMA it has to be an unused ESN.
And Boost I'm sure doesn't care what anyone does with their account, it's not that big of a deal.
