Do a search for the shutdown/start up in the intercept, and optimus, I know I posted it somewhere

Anyone get rid of the annoying lady screaming "VIRGIN MOBILE!!!" from their Triumph yet? I've managed to locate the shutdown sound. It's located: /system/media/audio/ui/VMU_Power_Down_48_24.mp3
I renamed it to ".old" at the end and put an mp3 with a few seconds of silence there with it's original name (obviously you need to be rooted to do this).
Where is the startup sound hiding?![]()
/system/etc/poweron.wav
If you don't want to Root - try Silent Boot in the Market -- works with Optimus -- other devices may vary.
you don't suppose it's one of the text tones or ringtones do you? I seem to remember getting a really annoying VM notification from sms or ringtone when I first got the phone
you can try app called android assistant it has a startup silent option that kills the startup and shutdown
its free on the market
no rooting needed, I use it on an optimus v and a intercept
I found it better than silent boot , plus the app does so much more
good luck
\system\sounds\poweron.mp3
I searched ".mp3" in root explorer in the / folder and found /hidden/data/Power-on sound/VMU_Power_Up.mp3 as well as /hidden/data/CDA/content/start-up-sound/VMU_Power_Up.mp3
edit - I put a .old at the end of both of those files and still got the startup sound...
What happens if you just rocker the volume down to vibrate or silent before you restart. Works for every other phone I have tried.
I've dug through just about every .mp3 and .ogg file and still can't get rid of the startup sound...
Seriously... Nobody has successfully disabled the annoying sound?.. VMU has the most disguising power on/off sound & splash...
